Thinking about swapping my rally over to a summit and have them installed already.
The rally drive shafts are to short. The center shaft would work from dif to trans but not from dif to wheels definitly to short.
Part numbers
Rally Traxxas CVD - tra7051x
Merv Traxxas CVD - tra7151x
FYI Traxxas does not make CVD's for the summit specifically, you will have to use Merv ones and change to Merv A Arms and rockers to do it right.
Thanks for the info! So I could run my merv with different wheels/tires and use a Summit body.
Definitly. Here's my summit pretending to be a Merv.

^^^lol! Separated at birth! Nice!
Hey Guys,
First post on here! Been on the forums for a few months, reading and researching things to do and upgrades for my son's 1/16 Summit VXL. One of the items we're trying to upgrade is the driveshafts to the Traxxas steel CVD shafts. I bought Traxxas 7151X Steel Driveshafts for the 1/16 ERV, and they appear to be 3/4" too short? I changed the rear arms to the Traxxas 7132 Rear Suspension Arm Set for the 1/16 E-Revo, and rockers to the 1/16 Revo Aluminum F&R Rocker Arms by GPM ERV027, and the shafts are too short on the rear and the front. What am I doing wrong?
Do you have any pictures?
That might help...
I can get pictures, but I don't have any right now. I measured the axle and it's 3". I'm almost thinking that they were mislabeled when they were packaged
Very possible.
This is one of the 7151x
Measurement starts at 10" to 13 3/4" -
3.75" = 3 3/4"

Try tightening your pillow balls in. Same number of turns top and bottom.
I highly doubt 3/4" can be taken out with pillow ball adjustments.
Yeah, it's not the pillow balls, definitely too short of shafts. Now that I see they are supposed to be 3 3/4" long...
So I had the place where I bought the axles from send me another set. This time they were the right ones. The last set were labeled 7151X but were the 7051X in the package. Now that I have proper length, they seem to be loose inside the axle carriers. There's an o-ring on the axle, and a set of 4 in a baggie...are the spares supposed to go on also?
Spares are for when the installed ones break.
