The Max5 / CC2028 seems to be the optimum 'reasonably priced' combo for (much) higher power / speed for the X-Maxx.

To be honest, I don't see the point in locking up a diff with 20M 'putty' - may as well fit a spool.
If you have the time and patience, you can 'dial it in' just the way you want it.

I use 8 mm bullet CC connectors, and probably mainly for that reason.

My MERV's on 3S - through a Max Pro into a 5 mm shaft 1410 3800 KV - FLIES!! (Breaks - even when trying to Brake!) but has definitely been the wildest out-of-the-box RC...

E-Revo ERV (ERBE) - run 6S.
Mini E-Revo (MERV) - run 3S.

Wouldn't run a 1/10 ERBE 3S - surely that's under-powered? !!
