The stock springs are pretty soft, so I usually recommend trying a different set of springs. Oil wise the Big Bores do well with 40-50 weight in them.
Traxxas sold a version with the battery and charger, and one without. They're discontinuing the version that came without the battery and charger.
Yes, it looks like it. It's a full 1/8 size.

EDIT: It looks more 1/8 than 1/10 to me
Unfortunately the Traxxas chargers will error out without something plugged into the main port for power. E-flite makes an adapter for normal chargers with 4mm bullet plugs, but it wouldn't work with...
I've been running Avid bearings since 2013 and I've never had an issue with them. Great quality and price.
I've heard rumors of a plow from Traxxas from a few different people, so who knows. I've seen a TRX-4 with an RC4WD plow so I know it's possible.
I would look at the Savox 1230 if you want more power or the Savox 1210 if you want waterproof. The new Traxxas 400 servo is pretty good too.
The biggest difference you'd notice is the PTFE coated ones are going to be a bit smoother feeling, but as far as actual performance goes I'm not sure you'd really notice a difference on a TRX-4. On...
I've moved the power tap wire to the newer ID plug shape many times, not an issue. I wouldn't mess with tapping directly into the ESC, it's far easier and safer to get power closer to the battery.
Absolutely loving your build, I love seeing Tonka trucks into into Rc's.
I'm so excited to get one, I'm a Jeep guy but I LOVE K5 blazers so much, and the detail on these things are awesome...
Well, I just noticed that the Fliker update just broke all of my pictures on my first post. :$#!!: Sorry about that guys...
Welcome back! :)
Sorry to hear about that brother. It's good to see you around still though! Thanks for the update.
The chassis is all new. It's not as long as the Slash 4x4, but it's not as short as the Stampede 4x4; it's in the middle. Otherwise that's the biggest difference besides the other things like you...
They're not the normal 4x4 Slash/Stampede # 6852X/6851X shafts, they're new. They look to be much thicker and beefy too.
Yup, they look to be 2.8 versions of them.
Trust me, it's an actual 4x4 chassis. The brushed one coming out later this year is going to be around $299 and the VXL one coming in a month or so will be around $370-$400.
The Ruslter 4x4 is very, very real. Traxxas is letting dealers sign up to get first deliverly trucks by mid September, and from what I can get at it looks like they should be on shelves in October....
LHS worker here! I'm excited for these, we can sell the absolute heck out of these, and people are going to love these. Running a $299 price point is fantastic, and the fact they kept the 32p gears...
I expect to sell the heck out of these at my LHS. It's closest competitor, the Axial Deadbolt or the Honcho, is only $10, or $30 less. But those have plastic links, one piece axles that are fail...
Yes, they'll fit.
I'd get a new set, # TRA1942. It'll come with a whole bunch of new ones, it's quite possible yours are just worn out.
My Jato was the smoothest break in I had too. I miss breaking in engines; it was stressful but oddly fun.
I've heard rumors of one yes, but I have no idea on specs or a release date though. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.
