Cool, breaking is adjustable on the stock ESC. I have mine turned down to around 85%

I am about ready for a servo upgrade though.

I don't think so, considering how many of the new 8s ESCs are out there I would consider the amount of failures relatively low.

When people have this kind of failure they tend to seek the forums...

I've probably got 60+ runs through the stock 8s ESC and I'm very happy with it. Running the 1600 motor so it's fast on 6s and insane on 8s.

ESC would not be my first upgrade.

That's why I don't want them. Once filled it seems like this would negatively affect center of gravity. The last place I want to add weight is at the highest point.

The 8s x maxx might be the toughest RC I've ever owned and I've been doing this since the mid 90's. 50+ packs and the only thing I broke was one arm, which was 100% my fault.

    The 8s esc IMO is...

The 8s has straight gears, you are incorrect. Yes the cups do wear, but I'm 50+ packs in to mine and they are holding up just fine.

Less diff action means it will spin less, you have it backwards. Stiffer can be better for both jumping and on road conditions. Less body roll on road and less likely to bottom on jumps. It may...

You're welcome, here is a pic of what to look out for on the plastic mount. The wear you see was more than enough to cause significant play in the bars.

So after about 40-50 packs (maybe more) through my V1 with the 8s power up installed I decided to do a full breakdown and install the AVID bearing set and UE shock shafts. Also serviced the diffs...

    Wrong.

The motor amperage draw will depend on the gearing and the battery voltage. (Higher voltage will result in a higher RPM and an increase in amperage.)
