I don't have that issue on mine. I'd use teflon tape. And make not totally tight. Perhaps some dry lube in there as well.

Make sure to plug the vent holes with tape. Before running. The badlands don't seem to have vent holes that I noticed. Or could feel. So grit and water don't get in and ruin the foam over time...
