Well this is my first trail rig so there might be other methods people can suggest but on all of my Traxxas vehicles I like to use marine grease in the bearings as well as to better seal the receiver...

Not a fan of the 17mm hex wheel...

I would say yes because I have found the bigger the motor the stronger the magnets which means greater resistance.
