Lol thanks man. I haven't tried running the paddle tire's on water. I feel like the ones I have would be too narrow, but I don't really know.
Thanks! I'm really happy with how it turned out. Staring at it as it sits on my shelf right now lol.
Oh yeah lol. Spent a couple hours playing around that day. It's a lot of fun!
No one likes me! Lol jk.
Just a little update:
This thing rips! With the 18/54 gearing, it seems a little faster than the stock vxl set up with 13/54 gearing on 3s, but it's hard to tell. I...
In it current state... Paddle tires on some hard packed snow is where it's at!

Better late than never... Haven't tried the G-locs, but I did wear out the Road Rage tires a lot faster than I would have liked, even more so than the stock talons.
Realized I never came back to see your response. Thanks! I'm not sure where I pulled that figure from. I ultimately figured it out for myself and installed one into my new build.
Very nice! What gearing? Are you running it on 3s and 4s?
I built this completely from the ground up. I had a ton of spare parts on hand, and after buying a new chassis, bulk head, and battery straps to update my old Rustler, I realized I nearly could...
According to the specs for each motor, the 540xl is 1.38" longer than the stock motor. I assume you would have to push the ESC forward and relocate the receiver box?
Perfectly normal. Front diff has 30k fluid and the rear is just greased.
My sport enjoying some fun in the sand on Lake Michigan. It struggled to make it up a few of the dunes, so I think I'll try my paddle tires next time, but the stock tires do surprisingly well. Made...
Paddle tires are definitely a game changer. Got the ones for the Slash 4x4 so I could use them on my Rustler 4x4, too. Works great on both!

Smaller pinion will increase acceleration and a bigger pinion will increase top speed. Just experiment until you're happy.
The chassis is grey, those driveshafts are black.
Wasn't today, but I did have my first "major" break on the Rustler. With the weather warming up, I decided to put my big Trenchers back on and run the Rustler on 2s. Still plenty fast for me in the...
Get the Tekno Aluminum hex kit and you'll be good to go. I've been running the Tekno driveshafts and the hex kit for about 6 months now and have had no issues.
Do we know yet? Lol
Curious to see the reply's on this. Probably wouldn't hurt for me to pull my diffs out for a cleaning.
I think I'm too much of a wimp to take mine to a skate park lol. I like this set up for playing around in the street in front of my house and in the parking lots by my work.
I did end up going with a 13t pinion after putting the road rage tires on. Plenty fast for me on 3s.
It only took a couple months, but here it is...

Nice! I took the MSF course 13 years ago and that weekend is one of my best memories. I had ZERO experience and the teachers were really awesome. Made the class so much fun.
Well, I guess...
