Thx, good to know I'm not the only. I have however heard from owners that are saying they do not have braking limitations when initiating training mode from the link app. Greets
You are completely right! This is not the way for me to reduce the speed. Thx!
I also thought reversed had nothing to do with driving in reverse.
You're possibly right that 80% brake = also 80% reverse speed. But that means that I can't reduce forward/reverse speed equally....
I was trying to use the link app to reduce the speed on my X-Maxx for my little son.
Was hoping to use training mode via Link app but reducing the speed also reduces the braking power. Reduce speed...

So, I managed to find a solution that works from a nice person on the Traxxas X-MAXX facebook page. He suggested not to do it in training mode, but to go into Channel Setup and restrict speed from...
Hi, thanks again for your suggestion, but afraid it didn't work for me...
Thanks, I'm going to try this as soon as the weather clears up!
Thanks morch_66479. Would you mind checking if you have brakes when you put it in training mode via link app and set it to 99% throttle? According to traxxas support the brakes are only reduced to...
Thanks for this. Checked the brake % in the app and they are set to 100%
Meanwhile I've asked Traxxas support and they acknowledge loss of braking is standard behaviour when using the Link App....
@Juanmacine, Do you mean to say that you have full working brakes when putting the car in training mode via the Link App?
I can control my ESC with Link App on the phone - what's this...
So recently purchased an X-MAXX and noticed the same issue as described above.
When activating the Training Mode from the Link App, I can reduce the throttle % but have almost no brakes. Even at...
Took me a while to look into this. In the end, the Traxxas distributor checked out the car and it turned out that the receiver was faulty and apparently drew too much current. This shorted everything...
Adding pics for clarity.
Left 1/10 size shock from Stampede filled with standard 30wt oil at full rebound, middle 2 7665 shock filled with oil and max rebound, right 7665 shock empty fully...
Hi,
I've read a bunch of posts on rebound of traxxas shocks but was looking for specific experience with 7665 GTR shocks.
I've filled my new GTR shocks with standard Traxxas 30wt fluid - following...
I'll get the pics up asap - need to get a break from work.
Hi, I contacted them - got a good description + couple of procedures to run through - but no joy.
Since I'm outside of US, I have to...
None taken - no worries. I was thinking the same but no - you can't even plug the ESC into the receiver the wrong way, shape of the connector won't allow it and the battery cables are still factory...
Afraid not, simple 3000 mAH 8.4V NIMH.
Hi,
Can't seem to figure it out.
Have a standard 4x4 Stampede XL5 ESC, 12T Titan motor and have recently burnt out my ESC.
Not sure how that happened. So, I ordered a new XL5 ESC and as soon...
Thanks Mike, appreciate the comments. That's some good advice - hadn't thought about the impact of slow speeds on ESC temp.
Thank you again. Makes complete sense. Adding the temp gun to the shopping list and looking into gearing.
Hi,
I know this is an old thread and I kind of know the answer to my own question but wanted to put it out there.
I've got a standard 4x4 Stampede. And was running a standard 2941X Battery,...
Thank you very much for this info and advice. Looks like I'll be getting a VXL-3s.
One thing I'm wondering though is that if I managed to overheat the XL-5 and upgrade to VXL-3s, don't I run the...
Hi,
New to the forum- and have searched and found a lot of good intel on ESC's for the stampede.
However, most threads are with the intent to upgrade motor + ESC.
In my case, I seem to have...
