I had a standard 80x25mm 24V fan directly connected to the batteries on it. Kept temps considerably lower. You just need to make two holes in the top brace and bolt the fan to it. Those fans are like...
Hehe. Seriously, hammer a slightly larger torx bit in there. It's the most non-destructive method and worked for me every time. Just make sure you support the motor shaft or the pinion with...
Maybe try an axe. Or a steam roller. I hear you can also melt the pinion off with some thermite. or if you have a mini-nuke handy, try that. But be careful with the neigbours.
Found a closed-down road and made another video:

You mean, don't do it on R/C cars because it's not good for real cars? Maybe we should all stop jumping our R/C cars, I hear jumping is not good for suspension alignment (and general structural...
While it's true that offset wheels or hexes put more strain on the bearings and knuckles, I don't think it will make a big difference in practice. Back in the Savage days it was common practice to...
Don't worry, just get the big motor and ESC, I have a TP4070 40x103mm motor on 6s in my Slash and it runs perfectly straight while accelerating from 13mph to 92mph in 2 seconds :D
Hehe, no never caught that guy ;)
Thanks guys.
Why are you surprised about the shocks? I'm not to good when it comes to suspension setup etc.
Have the feeling the stock slash shocks were...
Best way to fix that is to decrease brake in the ESC settings, if the ESC doesnt have such a setting, use the radio.
In general, to get the highest 'resolution', set the radio to max throttle and...
Here's a run with an onboard cam:

Just realized that I didn't update this thread in a while.
Sent the defective VESC along with my 1717, a large pinion and some GRPs to Benjamin (the VESC developer) so he could test with it. I...
GPM makes offset hexes that give 4mm per side. Not too much, but worth a try I think.
I used FG boots on the diff side. But only tested on one run (45min.) so far no problems. They're not perfect, because the last 'bulge' goes above the cup, but I already had them. The Hostile boots...
Figured that would fit here :)

Hmm, looks like the link maybe had a too high resistance?
Has somebody touched the fuse link wire after/during a hard run? Does it get warm?
Overlooked your post somehow.
Yeah, I also had a K6, they were great for overclocking. First one I've overclocked was a 486SX-25 to 30MHz. Ran the ISA bus with 10MHz. Man, that was fast ;)
The...
Are you talking about the Castle Blowers (or similar, i.e. fans with plastic case that enclose the heatsink) or normal fans just mounted above the heatsink like on my photo?
I think if blowing or sucking is better depends on where the air goes. With a normal fan on top (like in my pic) blowing is surely better, because if it was set to sucking, there wouldn't be air...
Not sure, had that idea as soon as I looked closer at the motor and heatsink. I'm just applying the knowledge I gathered 20 years ago when I was into computer overclocking :)
The heatsink is not seated properly on many (if not all) X-Maxxes. The temp sensor is too thick to fit under the heatsink, which causes a gap between the heatsink and motor. The whole sensor is too...
The first thing to try in that situation is to _gently_ hammer a slightly larger torx driver or bit into the rounded hex. It will 'grab' and allow you to unscrew the screw just like normal. Have done...
Not sure what others do. Most of the time I stop driving before LVC kicks in.
I just like to look on the voltage display from time to time to see how much I've left and how my packs behave. I.e. I...
I always look at the pack voltage. Great feature for me. A 'fuel gauge' would not be accurate with just the voltage reading. You need to count the Ah for that.
I think the MMX measures the motor temp via the sensor wire? Not sure. Have no sensor wire conneced obviously. I use the TQI for monitoring motor temps.
Yeah, these are the ESC temps from the logs. Logs say 51C, when touching the ESC heatsink it's bareley warm though. I have seen in your logs, that your ESC also seems to show too high temps, 90F from...
