Are your batteries at room temp before starting? If so, and they're newer then yeah, I'd suspect the esc. Otherwise, try starting out with then warm if you can. The maxx really sucks power, so even...
Worth giving traxxas a call to see what they say. The maxx will pull more amps than something lighter, but I haven't seen such a bad runtime with my batteries....yet
Are the batteries cold? Just thinking that depending on your location you may just have cold batteries and that can greatly reduce run times.
That'll do it!
Definitely had that happen before... Glad you figured it out.
Your current battery can handle the draw from the motor and esc fine, so upgrading the battery will only give you room to grow if you want to add a more power hungry esc and motor in the future. It...
Nice trucks! Thanks for sharing. How does the castle 2650 do in the maxx? I've got one I was pondering throwing in a roller.
There are indeed a lot of choices out there! It's hard to gauge how much your kids will be into it and for how long.
I started with a stampede 4x4 for me one year and quickly realized the kids...
Sand is pretty much the worst thing ever to drive in. Super fun though! Last time my kids and I tried it I had to strip down all the trucks and clean everything out. Lots of new bearings too.
You...
Did you like/have tsm on your slash? I kind of like it on the maxx when I'm running full throttle across the field and it's bumping all over the place because of the terrain... Helps it stay...
My kids run stock vxl pedes on 2 and 3s in our large yard without any issues as you describe. Maybe call traxxas and see what they say?
Don't use self righting. It will kill your drivetrain. Walk over and tip it on its wheels.
I agree with this. The xmaxx is great but capable of doing real harm in the hands of an inexperienced driver. You need a LOT of room. I have a full acre that I run mine on and it eats it up.
If...
I've never seen them on their own. Here's a post from a while back with a couple links you might want to check out.

That is pretty crazy...must have been a heck of a hit! I believe you can get hardened shafts for the ultra shocks if you don't want to upgrade everything now.
Big bore shocks are actually smaller than the ultras, probably don't want those.
Ultras with hardened shafts and aluminum cap work fine for bashing around. I use these in the kid's trucks.
GTR...
Nope, just the one. Are you thinking of the hcg/lcg chassis for the slash 4x4?
I can see the images when I click the links. You can use the Tapatalk app on a phone to place images directly in a post as well.
Interesting find on the shock wear. I haven't had mine apart yet,...
Take a close look at how much room you have to run. The xmaxx eats up space... It's huge!
You can get away with a bit less room using the Maxx. Also, 1 battery vs 2 is nice.
Both are fun!
Lol, yeah they seem to just know that you're messing with something. I'd try to do training mode for my son while he was learning control... He'd always pitch a fit about it being too slow even...
Hmm...I would typically suggest changing the throttle settings on the tx, but I don't see any options for this in the Teton manual.
Could you tape or zip tie something behind the trigger to limit...
Yes, the 2wd pede has the motor hanging out back. There are very little parts shared between the older 2wd and newer 4x4 platforms.
Did you get one for the 2wd pede? That's definitely different.
I doubt holes in the body will make much difference. 3s on the stock system will have a tendancy to overheat depending on how you treat it, especially on grass. Grab a fan and/or a temp gun and check...
Trenchers are great for when it gets warmer but still do a fair job in the snow. The hatchets do work better in the cold. The Badlands are super grippy no matter the surface, but might not be the...
I got it back before they made all their motors sensored, but I think this would be about the same.
