    I use:
    - a Integy T8635BLUE T2 (heatsink with fan)
    - a Integy heat sink 2700 Black 5 fin

It's a bit fidling to use both, but it works for me.

    There are many other options.

The VXL motor and ESC will heat up easy.
I added a heatsink with fan and + one extra heatsink on my motor (the heatsinks are not very wide) to keep the temp low enough.

From what I've read on these forum, most breakages involve the rear axles.
That's also my experience with my Stampede 4x4 and Slash 4x4.

I encountered the same thing with some of my bodies.
There ar spots where the paint (I use Tamiya) was "lifted" from the body.
I guess it's like Blown94 says, the shoe goo can be less flexible.

    My experience (mostly driving 2S):

    - Dirt Hawgs: good for on-road and light off-road. The thread pattern doesn't give the grip real off-road tires give. I wouldn't buy them again.

The Telluride came with a 48 pitch (standard 12/83t).
It shared many parts with the Stampede.

    - the gearing you use

Any idea about the temps on the ESC and the motor ?

I guess the 3200 kv can be geared higher than the 4000 kv.

    @ Trojan366 - what gears do you use ?

If you go for the 3200 kv combo - it has a 5 mm shaft.

The rally has changed over the years.
The newer versions use shorter arms (Telluride arms).

I believe you also need other body posts.

The Velineon itself will not damage the drivetrain if you use 2S lipos and gear appropriate.
But it's not the best combo for a heavy car like the stampede.

Using 3S lipo's can put much strain on...

    I don't have a rally, but i do own a slash 4x4 and a 4 tec 2.0.

    I agree with zedorda.

I would start with the rally (or a slash).
The 4 tec 2.0 is a great platform but not very versatile.

I believe that the stock gearing for the Stampede VXL is 11/54.
15/54 is indicated for "high speed running on smooth surfaces".

    As zedorda suggested, I would try a 13/54 or even a 12/54.
    And...

I guess that the stampede tires absorb the bounces better than the rustler tires do.
But you’re right, bashing in a scatepark will take a higher toll then on grass (found out the hard way).

    Thanks for the reply.

I've had no problems with the rods (knock on wood).

Unlike the metal camber links that I installed.
Those were both bent after a few "mild" sessions at our skate park.

Toe links - XL5 vs VXL

I noticed that the rod ends of the steering turnbuckles (toe links) are getting sloppy, there’s too much play for the hollow balls.

    I have a SW3 with a 4600KV motor.
    Personally I would go for a 4000 or a 3800 KV motor.
On hot days you really have to monitor the temps, the 4600KV wil heaten up faster.
    A lower KV motor gives...
