    Question Air filter oil substitute?

I'm over my friends house and I forgot to bring my airfilter oil. I've heard you can cover your airfilter in WD-40 or fuel, but you just have to clean it more often. Is this true? I'd like to go bashing tomorrow, but I don't want to mess anything up. Thanks for your help!

TRAXXAS says use clean motor oil if you don't have AFO.

Well, first things first. If you don't have any type of filter "oil", don't run it at all.

Motor oil will be fine for TEMPORARY use. I'm sure your friend has some motor oil, some place or another.

doesn't get much better than this right here. i use the spray can just cause it's more convenient. and i use this on my bearings and hinge pins. it's a little better than wd-40 cause it "creeps" into all the nooks and crannies.

I use K&N AFO from my 1:1. Its like $10 for the kit and it comes with a cleanerand the oil. Plus it lasts forever on the T-maxx.

Marvel's Mystery oil.....it's good as both an air filter oil and a after run oil (in fact this is what Traxxas includes for air filter oil, along it's what's in the K&N filter recharge kit, which is also worth the $$$ and is cheaper than most "R?C" filter/after run oils)

I've always washed the filter with soap and water.. Sqeeze water out and dryed..

then I put it in a zip bag and pour a good amount of oil on it.. now work it back and forth, soakin the oil up in the filter..

Now take a rag or paper towel and soak up the loose oil by squeezing the filter in the rag.

    Evilpete,

The oil that is included with the Revo for the air filter is made specifically for use in the filter. The part # is 5263. If you put Marvel Mystry Oil on the filter it will not have the same filtering qualities as the correct oil. The oil that comes with the truck is slightly sticky and this quality helps to hold the dirt as it goes through the filter. Check the link below for more info.
