    Clutch Shoes?

What benifit would I see by upgrading my clutch shoe's. I broke a clutch spring and replaced it with one that the LHS had. it was a smaller diameter. Scince then the excereration has been slugish. I have retuned the hsp and lsn many time thinking that it was just the weather change. Since I am going to get a new spring should I up grade the shoe's? I have alittle over a gallon of fuel through it now.

    Thanks for the help.

i take it thats sarcasm....its not unusual for it to take some time for responses. people sometimes wont respond unless they feel they can give a good response, and some people that will post on clutches may only come on once a day...just give it a day or so for a good response.....

if i were you, i would just buy a traxxas clutch set. for about 10 bucks you get a totally brand new shoes and a new spring.

that way, you wont have to worry bout anything

A tighter(stiffer) spring would help out your acceleration. You'll have more rpm's before your clutch engages. You may be able to take a few coils off of the spring you already have. You can also flip your shoes so that they push against the bell housing instead of pull, for more grip.

There you go, it's a response. Your welcome.

    could it be clutch?

today was runnin my jato and 2nd speed not kicking in and it feels like its not running fast enough( running slow)

so tried to lean the high speed needle samething tighten the spur gear samething

what i noticed is that when i tried to lossen up the spur gear and holding the spurgear that rod where the spur gears follows have to stick something inside the tranny so the rod wont follow when i lossen up the spur gear
what you think is the problem?

Harddrive the clutch I was talk about it the clutch shoes inside of the clutch bell. As far as the slipper clutch under the spur gear. How much run time do you have on your car and what kind of driveing do you do. I burnt my clutch shoes up with paddle tires in deep sand. It was the first time in the sand, broke the stock spring and the only springs they had at the lhs were a lot lighter. So I think it was engaging to soon and there was not enough RPM toget it moving with the paddles on.

You should replace your clutch shoes and springs on a regular basis, before they wear out. They are cheap and should be classed as a consumable (like tyres).

I would look at one of the following options.

    1. MIP traxxas clutch shoes kit. (rcboyz)
    2. Nova rc products alluminium adjustable clutch shoes. (ebay)
    3. Werks racing 4 shoe adjustable clutch kit and clutch bell for Tmaxx. (ebay)

I have the Werks clutch and it rocks its fully adjustable (different shoe properties and bite points) and shows no fade, but it is expensive.

pull the CB off and see if the spring is broken. When mine was broke it would just bearly move. While you have the Spur gear off look at the thin metal disk behind it and the slipper clutch pad. make sure they are not glazed. If they are you can take some sand paper to them just the fibers not the steel disk. If the spur gear is not moving first check the gear lash between the spur and CB. I have had my motor loosen up befor.

    Hope this help's some.
