the spur gear is made of that material for a reason, if you put a metal spur gear, maybe u wont break it any more, BUT, you will pretty sure break something in the transmission, and that would be more expensive and takes more time than replacing it with another spur gear.

You can try the Integy Delrin spur gear tho, its a kind of more durable than the stock one but its not any metal..

32 pitch is what you need. I had a steel spur and it will do a number on your transmission...stick with delrin or something like that

    I disagree strongly.
Why would you tear up a tranny from a metal spur gear? If you are, then your clutch is clearly too tight. There is nothing wrong with a metal gear except the added rotating mass. And I'de imagine it to be more efficient than plastic.

Metal spur gears are bad news unless you have metal gears in your transmission...the rule of thumb is: metal (aluminum really) down the center and plastic everywhere else...

If you disagree you can always get the metal gears, but for sure you will be doing some wrenching on your tranny or even worse, replacing your clutch bell and spur gear consistently.

Nothing wrong with a metal srur gear,, but if you're going to use hardened steel, then make sure your clutchbell is also hardened.

run what ever u can get ur hands on...
bottom line... tranny gears wear out....
    spur gears wear out
clutch bells... well i have never wore one out, but it is a mechanical moving part so i am sure it is possible...
everything on the car will eventually wear out....
so drive it, fix it, enjoy it
    been there bought that
