Old Stampede needs help getitng brushless ready

Hello everyone! I have been in the hobby a long time now, and have some questions regarding a new-to-me Stampede 2wd I got in a trade.

I stripped the spur gear today, and I am having a hard time finding the assembly for it. I have already added the metal gears inside the truck. What would I need to get to use the modern spur gear? I run 2.8 proline tires with a 3300kv brushless motor on 2s. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also what gearing would be best for bashing in off road/ grass? I can't seem to find the same tooth count as I have now. The stripped plastic spur gear is 87t, not sure the pinion gear tooth count. I would be fine getting a whole new spur gear/slipper clutch/ pinion gear set up that would be best suited for off road use! I want this trucks transmission to be somewhat bullet proof, so y'all let me know what I would need to get!! Thanks! Looking forward to getting involved in this community

Here's what the slipper clutch/gear looks like that is on it now https://www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-461...Sw%7EQRZ%7ETI-

Looks to be the same as a T-maxx, I would go to your local hobby shop and buy an old style T-maxx spur, make sure to specify old style, there is an old and new version.

Thank you for the reply! Unfortunately I don't have a LHS, so I have to order all my parts online.

I want to get a "modern" set up, something like these.

Panhead5496 welcome to the P2de club!

If the transmission your antique has is the same as the newer models, then the layshaft and new slipper should work fine. I recommend using 32 pitch gears though. They are so much tougher than the stock 48 pitch. Forget about using a gear cover. All my Traxxas bash trucks have run 32 pitch for years and are happy, happy.

You can always buy a replacement for your old spur gear:

Thank you! I am enjoying it a lot more than I thought I would

I think the transmission is the same, as I ordered metal gears for it off eBay and they work well, and were for current models as far as I know.

32p gears? Hmm, I'll have to look into that! You mean these? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Traxxas-684...IAAOSw6btXQ9GE

If I get those, what slipper clutch should I get? Maybe this one? https://www.ebay.com/itm/371469167023

And I will need this too, my shaft has the old "hex style" one https://www.ebay.com/itm/331993121062

Then with the new slipper clutch and shaft, I can get a set of those 32p gears, and I'll be all set??

Lastly, what pinion gear should I run with those 50t spur gears?

I've seen those, but want to go ahead and get a newer set up, since the gears seem a little fragile.

    Thanks for the help everyone!!

Hey again guys! Sorry I haven't updated yet. I got my wisdom teeth out and that set me behind on my hobbies haha

Anyway, I am having trouble finding the best gear ratio to run on my Stampede

I have a 3300kv motor in it on 2s. I run 2.8 tires and my bashing is usually grass/dirt. I don't want a speed demon but don't want to get smoked by dads 4x4 vxl Slash

What gearing should I run? I know now I have a 87t spur and a 17 (maybe 18) tooth pinion. The stuff I was going to buy off eBay is a 90t spur gear (comes with the slipper clutch assembly I need) but also was going to order some 32p spur gears that are 50t. I've never really understood gearing too much. It seems that if I get the 50t spur I'll need to change the pinion...but to what??

    Thanks for the help everyone
