Newb, first nitro 2.5 maxx wont start

Well first off this is a used maxx, and though of course i cant know for sure, im fairly positive this was a running truck
so its safe to say its my fault because ive never had a nitro.. anyhow

its a 2.5 max with a roto start, new mccoy mc-59 plugs and 20% fuel

the seller was from PA, im in FL ive tried to start it at his settings and it wouldnt turn over,
then i tried the "default" needle settings i found online of 4 turns out for the HS and flush with the inner lip for the LS and still no luck

i cant get it to run for even a second

also about how powerfull should the steering be with new batteries? i put in 4 new AA's and it seems weaker than i thought, and seems to return to left VERY slow and turns right much faster,, this is regardless of the trim settings

    thanks for all your help

Are you using a glow ignitor that is charged fully. A hot ignitor really helps. Also if the steering servo is a stock traxxas one your steering will seem slow when the truck is not moving but once it is rolling it will turn pretty good.

The Igniter has a brand new C battery, and im using the new mccoy plug,
i remember reading somewhere to light up the plug and blow on it to see if it stays red, and it does

When it starts rev it some to get it warmed up. And if it's not idling he gap between the slide and the carb should be about 1mm

Well the servo was dead, so i picked up a Jr Z650M
seems like a decent deal for $50
    142oz in @ 6v, .17 seconds @6v and metal geared

BTW went to a buddys house and the truck started right up lol
