Showdown: Jato 3.3 vs. Rustler VXL

I currently have the Jato 3.3, but just purchased the Rustler VXL. While the jato 3.3 is fast, I have took the liberty of ordering a Maxamps 5000 3s lipo battery along that should be here in about a week. My cousin who is pretty good at operating high performance rc vehicles should be in town at the time and will be running my Rustler VXL with the lipo battery against me who wil be operating the Jato 3.3. Should I be concern against the Rustler, or will the Jato prevail?

Guys with the optional gearing I plan to put on the VXL along with the 3 cell lipo, I think the Jato maybe outgunned. What mods can I do to the Jato to win for sure?

I know, I was just saying that whole gearing thing is why i would take a stock vxl.

As far as jato mods, drill out your stinger to 13/64, get a real good tune and run revo gears 19/38 or 20/38. I gues your gearing would depend on the length of the race, but give yourself running room if you run revo. Drop whatever weight you can, don't run the race with a full tank of gas. maybe do the force .26 carb mod. I can't comment on that as i have not done it yet and don't know the results personally. and that's about all i can think of off the top of my head as far as easy wise. CVD's might help if you wanna go that route. make sure your brakes aren't dragging at all, wheels spin nice and free..... i guess i could go on... lol, roto start will drop weight pull start even more. just think speed! oh and run 33% nitro. its a little harder to tune as the "sweet spot" isn't as large.

Even with the 5000 mAH the Rustler should do near 70 MPH with the speed gearing (31/76, I think). The Jato will put up a good fight, I think it's going to come down to the driver and who gets traction (and who keeps their front end on the ground).

we are in the same boat - My rusty should be here Sat or Monday. I will line up my Jato against it as well (stock gears). My best friend who happens to leave across the street has a stoke Jato as well, if we can get his running we might get a video of the Rusty kicking both their rears. haha..

I can't wait to get it - I just placed an order for a bunch of spare parts for it. I will start to jack with gears on both once I get a bit of wear and tear on them.

BTW- when it comes to posting videos what is the best way?

Does the rustler include batteries? Because running lipos if batteries are not included would be running stock. Even if batteries are included, I would still consider it stock with lipos, unless the jato includes fuel lol.

i also have a stock jato. no batts with rustler. so i guess some one would have to agree on what is stock for the rusty. i can put the stock gears back in the rusty and run an 11.1 3s lipo? but then what fuel is stock in the jato,20,33 or 65% boat fuel which i have done.
