Thought some of you might be Camaro junkies like my wife.
She has a 1992 RS she bought new but has informed me this will be our next new car.

I got to see this at the fall Charlotte Auto Fair.

She will probaly go with black with red stripes or the reverse.

    Here is her 1992.

I've been waiting for them to come out. Were they '08 or '09? I can't remember... Either way, they can't get here soon enough.
Can anyone tell me the best way to dodge the jumping mailbox posts?

I LOVE the new camaro. I think its awesome that auto makers are giving the new cars the styling the old ones had. I'd love to get one.

i heard about the new trans am the other day and figured id look into it. found a pic, its equally as nice as the camaro (obviously the same platform as the camaro, but definatly having its own unique trans am look.)

EDIT: there will also be another re-design of the GTO, but i dont think theres pics of that floating around yet. i heard the gto should be out around 09

there are possible trans am models being looked at. no confirmation (at least that i know of). and the camaro in the first post is no longer a concept. it is the car tha twill be on sale soon. it also happens to be the model used in the transformers movie for the character of bumblebee.

I love old styling, but this retro thing is getting way too heavy-handed. Certain cues are welcome, but the new Mustang, Camaro, Challenger, and such look like the designers opened the classic model in Photoshop and hit "blur" and "soften edges". Ugh.

I love old musclecars because their designs were original and daring when first released. How ironic that the new versions are carbon copies.

The cool part is the zeta platform is suppose to be moving into other models as well IE Impala SS/Monte Carlo SSfor one. They alreay have 5.3l V8s as an option on the SS's, but its FWD.

The new camaro is sweet. Could become my mid-life crisis car but I am still partial to the Porsche 911 (for my mid life crisis car) but I'm only 33 so I got a few more years. lol.

That will be my next new car as well. Assuming its still on track to be produced... I must say, I like your wife's taste in cars... funny thing is, I told my girl that this will be our next car as well. I just find it ammusing she is into cars more than if she's the one picking out a car like this. Definately a keeper.

Any firebird/trans am pics you find on line or just what people imagine it would look like and have been out since the first concept sketches of the camaro have been out.

GM doesnt know if the new camaro is going to be out in 2008 or 09 yet, most likely the latter. its not going to sell well though, due to the base price of atleast 30k (V6, minimal options) and the LSX engine equipped models probably somewhere in the 40-50k range. so basically for a V8 powered camaro, you could get 2 brand new Mustang GT's.
Also the word on the firebird/TA is that there will not be one, ever

    my camaro...

I find it very hard to believe that a V6 Camaro is going to start at the same price as a loaded V8 Mustang GT. If that is the case this will be an absolute and utter failure.

Imo it would be unlikely for a Camaro to be 40-50K, GM will not want the lesser Camaro to get into Corvette price territory.

from everything ive seen heard and read, GM is having a very hard time with the pricing because the Aurora (GTO) platform is very expensive with its IRS setup.

I messed around the GM site and took a couple pricing surveys and among things they were asking if someone would pay $5000 for the "stripper package" and $10000 more for the V8 engine upgrade.

They didnt learn with the GTO, that you cant produce an expensive sports car and expect it to compete in the market, the whole point of the camaro and mustangs were to be affordable. Id love to get a 5th gen, but unless theres some kind of miracle, its not looking very affordable.

The newer vettes are going to be priced from the 60's (base) to i believe the low 90's (ZR1 package, with something like 650hp) so the camaro in the 40ish range isnt totally out of the question. especially when a shelby or a cobra GT is going for the upper 40's.

    i hate this.

i hate when car companies try to bring back muscle cars.

they turned the charger into a 4-DOOR

    and besides,

now, they make the cars too low and the rims are too big

It's not chopped but it has been dropped about 3.5" all the way around.

    Shaved door handles,trunk & hood.
1977 302 from a mustang II. C4 auto with air & disk brakes in the front.

No flamethrowers but i do have green neon under it to match my flames.

    I'm glad you like it.

Supercharged can be fun. Here is my 99 Lightning on the beach at Daytona.

I had my supercharged truck for a few years but it had to go to make room for the family. But the Merc is here to stay.

Haven't purchased a sit down and order or new off the lot vehicle in quite a few years, and back in the late 60's, 70's and 80's had never been real excited like most are these days about any cars from the land of the rising sun. I have to admit, if as planned an appearance is made in a showroom late 2009 - 2010 of this concept... http://www.toyota.com/vehicles/future/fths.html my plan is to own one. It'll be my Corvette for the 21st century.
