What do you mean by refresh rate? I am getting one on Sunday. What kind do you have? How accurate is it? Sorry for all the questions

Sorry for the delay but I didn't have internet access until now.

The refresh rate is how often it updates the screen.

I currently have 5 GPS units installed in the same vehicle and they all show the same speed to the tenth. They do have different refresh rates so the speed reading does bounce around a little. Three of the units are made by Garmin one is a Pharos and one is in my QualComm unit. The first four are all WAAS enabled.

The WAAS GPS units will be most accurate. What are you planning to do with yours?

I wish I hd a speedometer, theres a huge parking lot near my house I take my jato there and run WOT back and fourth, put on helmet camera it must hurt top speed because it weighs 1-2lbs and the brakes were terrible! you could gear very high on that parking lot and never have trouble running out of room maybe a 4 speed will do it
I memorized pi to 200 digits!

Got my gps today, WAAS enabled it. The accuracy seems perfect, I compared it to the digital speedometer in my car, and it was the same. I didn't really have enough room, but i managed to get up to 81.4km/h (not very much, I know, but i had to slow down, my dog jumped in the way. Swerved to avoid him, those cartwheels were not a pretty sight. It isn't exactly stable at those speeds). I try to get it up to 90kmh tomorrow

try to get red off any extra weight, in another word turn your jato more light weight by removing or modifying it's componants.

Ok that ssounds good. Will that improve speed? it doesnt seem like it would.
Should I run my Jato When there is like 1 inch of snow on the ground? I have gladiators for winter. Also are rr2s slower than anacondas? I think my bearings have a lot of dirt in them there not performing very well at the moment.

anything lighter goes faster...brings up the power to weight ratio...not pushing around added weight = faster in the end, less stress on the engine yielding quicker acceleration and higher top speeds...but you get one negative affect of having a lighter vehicle, thats stability/traction once you reach high speeds...for more info on how to get your jato to go as fast as it can, you should read any posts made by "jato75"...he was the "jato god" around here...he has done everything to push the jato to the limits...if my memory serves me correctly his "drag jato" reached speeds in the mid 80's range...
here is a link to all of jato75's mods (<-- click!)...

Garmin etrex. You can pick up one for about 90 bucks.
Last night, i was doing speed runs in the dark, but hit a boulder at 89.4km/h. My car is completely ruined. It hit head on, and stopped immediatly 3 tires completely blew off, and screws and plastic bits landed all around me. The gps also became a projectile.
So my advice is, don't get caught up in top speed, but watch where you're going!

how much faster is that 45 tooth cb than revo gearing jato75? How long do foams last becuz I have rr2s and there going to be gone soon. trying to decide on my next tire choice. One more question, how much space do you need to get going 75mph would a couldisack work? thanks

the 45t is MUCH faster...think about it...there is a difference of almost 20t when you fllip the pitch and compare the ratios...

    revo 40/20 = a 2:1 ratio = a 54/27 jato combo

my 45t jato 54/45= 1.2 gear ratio thus about an 18t difference.

I'd say with the revo gearing and all of my mods you might get 73-75, but after that you're really pushing it.

with my custom gear mod i think my highest was something like 83 or so if memory serves me correctly...i haven't driven my jato in 6 months or so.

as far as a culdesac being long enough....no way...think Wal-Mart parking lot big.

as far as the foams...the 17mm last months...6-7 and that's after driving EVERY day....i swear by them

A link of all your mods would be great, also I saw that you run the new era wheel adaptors that are like 40 dollars, do those increase speed? Also what is the speed difference between the foams and the rr2s and also the rr2s and the anacondas. Is making the 45t cb hard? is there like a 40t cb I can buy instead?

    Thanks,
    Jacob

here's a link to all of my mods:

    http://monster.traxxas.com/showpost....1&postcount=52

is the 45 hard to make...no, but it takes time, and alot of patience... and you have to mod the chassis. There is a way to make a 40t, and that's in the above link, but it's no less easy.

the wheel adapters don't make the truck faster, but the foam tires do...they are lighter and taller than both the road rages and the anacondas...

what's the difference in speed...maybe 3-4mph from the rr's to the foams

So is it rare to hit 80mph+ with a jato 3.3? I forget, what does traxxas claim?

Traxxas states 65+, I wouldn't expect 80MPH easily out of a Jato. With Jato75s mods it should do it, mod the engine and it'll do it easier but you'll at least have to have a huge area to do it in. Once you get a truck over 50 or 60 you really start to realize how fast that really is, I don't think I've ever had my 4-Tec up to full speed because I can't get it up to speed and back down safely enough.

So would a stock 3.3 jato be faster than a stock rustler vxl with the best battery you can get? I think that the stock vxl would be faster.

With the 8000 mAH lipo and the proper gearing it would be a close race. IMO it would come down to the drivers, but I've seen VXLs push past 70 MPH set up like that and I'm not sure what a stock Jato 3.3 can do out of the box. I have a Rustler with a Mamba Max 5700 and a Jato that currently has a 2.5 in it, but I would take the MM'ed Rustler any day in a race, just watch your throttle to keep the wheels on the ground and from spinning out.
