WOW! Price is WAY too high!!!

Tower Hobbies is listing the Slash at just under 300.00 Anyone else see a problem with this?

    http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=LXUVY4**&P=7

I just sent an e-mail to Traxxas asking if this was correct and letting them know if ot was that I would not be adding the Slash to my collection of Traxxas models. Since Traxxas listens to their customers others should do the same and let them know the price is too high.

That is just the suggested price. It will come down by the time the Slash becomes available. This is what happens every time something new comes out, and I can almost guarantee that there will be threads just like this one in the E-Revo forum. The price should come down, don't worry.

Surely everyone knows that Tower puts huge prices on trucks that just come out. that will be reduced by a third in a couple of months.

FYI guys, Tower has already reduced the price to $199.99, but you still can't pre-order it from them yet.

Sure looks like they are accepting pre-orders. I just went through the entire process up to the point where I have to put my CC number in...

At the time I posted that last night they were not taking pre-orders. They are now though and my pre-order has already been placed.

I grabbed an MM 5700 and a gyro too This is going to be a blast. I'll get the mm and gyro before the slash but I guess that's ok. I have an HPI I can stick it in before the slash shows up.

I just ordered one, plus a traxxas connector pack, it is $30 off $225 or more, so the battery is "free". I opted for "any color".

    SkulliWulli,
The gyro is the DriftBox. In our series we are going to allow the use of the DBox in the expert class, but not in the Spec class. It connects inline with the steering servo.

HPI makes a driftbox but, you can find a gyro cheaper.

Just use double sideed stickey tape to attach it. I haven't installed yet. I have nothing to install it in. I'll post the build pics when the time comes. Just have to wait for now. Search tower for gyro and you'll find some. You could also look up hpi's drift box.

or you could just learn how to counter steer and not have to rely on a $100 box to do it for you
saves money and builds skill lol

Which gyro do you recommend? I see several listed at Tower. Can I use the GWS as a drop in or will I need to mod it?

This looks like a drop in: http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXMSF8&P=7

The reason I ask is that the HPI is kinda high and the GWS shows to be for a heli...

I honestly don't know but that's the same one I purchased. I haven't hooked it up to anything to try it out yet. I think you just have to make sure it's pointed the right direction what ever that way might be.

the kid at my local hobby town, said that he tried to order 4 and that they told him that it will be DECEMBER when they can ship it.

my last two trucks i brought from another store anyway, they where charging $100 more for the VXL, and $60 more for the XL-5 then the other hobbytown that's 20 miles away.

I've been trying to pre-order from the Hobbytowns here in Austin, TX. They say they can't yet so I went ahead and pre-ordered from Tower. It says the ship date will be "Late May" Let's hope so...

Come rebate time, I'll be looking for a Slash - maybe you and I can fight over the first ones that they get! What color is your first choice?

if you know how to countersteer you will be a much better driver.
also sometime i dont want it to steer for me
the only reason u ever need a gyro is for drifting, and even then i would only get one if i was a tottal newb.

i never bought a gyro for my drifter when i was a newb and im really good at drifting now.

learn how to countersteer people!!! spend your money on other upgrades.

I'm not so sure that drifting on hard pastic tires is the same as sliding around with tires that actually have some grip in dirt. I'll let you know after the fact as of now, I'm still putting it in.
