    Motor/ESC choices...

Hello all, I recently picked up an older 4 Tec and would like to set it up for drifting. It has some nice mods so far, upper & lower C/F, allum standoffs, 200mm conversion, nitro sway bars, etc. It was running Mamba Max and a 7700kv ESC/motor, but that has been removed.

I am thinking of picking up a brushed setup just for drifting. The 2 options I have found so far ($50 -$60 range), XL-5 & 20T Stinger and an XL-5 (Slash version) with a 12T.

Any suggestions, advantages or disadvantages? Thanks in advance for your assistance...

The Stinger motor is pretty guttless, so I'd stay away from that one for drifting. The XL-5 and Titan option would probably be my choice.

Thanks guys, I would have totally gone the other way. I am surprised about the Stinger, but good to know. One of the reasons I was thinking about the 12T combo was that I might be able to switch it into the wife's VXL without her knowing it and use her brushless...

Well, swung a deal with another forum member and I am going to give the Slash XL-5 & Titan 12T a try. Just looking for some parking lot fun, it should do the job.

Thanks again all for the input, I will let you know the outcome.
