    pull start or ez start

hey, i am currently borrowing batteries and a charger (for my ez start) from my friend, but he needs them back soon.

so since it would cost a lot to buy new batteries and a charger, i am thinking about getting a pull start.

before i do, is there any problems with a pull start that i should know about?

    blisters and scraped knuckles
but with a good tune and a primed line, one or two short fast pulls usually does the trick

as long as you have a good one bearing inside the ezstart
you will need a glow plug igniter

it will, but little harder. with good tune engine, you should fire up w/ 1 - 2 pull.

I had one it was nice not having to worry about charging the ez-start battery and glow plug igniter lasts a lot longer per charge compared to the ez-start battery, but it broke so I went back to the ez-start.

somewhere i heard the pullstart makes the jato lighter, is this true?

RECOIL PULL STARTER FOR TRX® 3.3/2.5: Use the TRX 2.5 recoil pull starter for racing applications where weight savings are critical. It’s all new and engineered for long-lasting, trouble-free operation...

got this from traxxas jato accessories page.

Yes, it will remove quite a bit of weight (no starter motor, all of those gears, the case, etc.). I personally like the EZ-start system for its ease of use, but others like pull starters... it's all personal preference.

I have a pullstart and its very easy to use, the only thing I do to save time is to stick like 2 drops of fuel in the carb so I don't have to waste time priming it. Then it starts right up with 2 pulls(max). And having a pull start is fun to use, especially when you put the after run oil in .

i just hate taking the body off to start it. i put roto start on all my jato trucks, and brought in line primers for fast starts.

I have a pull start in mine and I prefer over the ez start. The only bad things i have found with it is taking the body of to start it unless you cut the body, and the blisters on your hand when you get your tune so far of the car wont even start.
