Buying the new E-Revo BL what eles do i need?

    Hi there all.

Now that the E-Revo BL has come in stock and i have sold my 4tec im going buy one.

This will be my first electric truck. But i have sold my Revo 3.3 and 4Tec 3.3. But i still have my Jato 3.3.

But i will defently need more then just the truck. I need 4 batteries a lipo charger and maby the most common spare parts and extra tyres?

I want the batteries with the most power able to fit in the battery compartment. This must be the most important thing for a electrial car. So i really hope you can give me some pointers.

A good and fast charger that can charge 2 batterie at a time.

Im gussing that some of you have changed stuff that where broken or just need better parts. Any suggetions for a list?

What about extra tires? Is that needed?

I already have a 2.4Ghz radio so im thinking i will change for that. (Nomadio React)

Also if anyone can suggest a good webshop that sells it all and ships to denmark.

    Thanks.

    Buy some *****'s from *********. 11,1V / 5000mAH / 30C for just over $60.

A charger that could charge 2 packs at once would be nice but is also pretty expensive.

Polyquest batteries are made by enerland. They are among some of the best lipos out there. If you search around, you will find that many batteries are compaired to enerland for quality. Its because enerland has a reputation for being among the best that everyone compairs themselves to them.

They can be found a bit cheaper HERE.

AS for the *****'s that everyone recommends.... well IMO they are great batteries and their price cant be beat. The problem is that they are out of stock and there has been no update as to when stock will be replaced.
    but here are some links for you;

    ***** ********* 5000mAh 3S1P 30C
    ***** ********* 5000mAh 3S1P 25C
    *****-H 5000mAh 3S1P 20-30C Lipoly Pack
    ***** ********* 5000mAh 3S1P 20C

There are SOME *****s still in stock that will work. They have a lower mAh rating so they will have a shorter runtime than the others I linked above...but if you were to spend the $600 that you would spend on the polyquest batteries, on these instead, then you could buy 10 of them!

    *****-H 4000mAh 3S1P 25-35C Lipoly Pack
Using 5 sets of these would allow you to run all day!

AS for using Traxxas connectors, yes you will need to buy them and solder them on yourself. LINK
If you have never done it before, ...be sure to solder one side at a time and get it shrink wrapped before you start the other side. If the red and black wires touch it will cause a short and you can ruin the battery. You'll know if this happends because the spark will he HUGE!

Your other option (if you buy the batteries with deans connectors) is to change the connectors on the truck from Traxxas one to DEANS. I think they work just as well as traxxas ones and buying them is cheaper.

THIS charger will charge two batteries at once.

You will also need a powersupply. Most of the better chargers are designed to run off of a car battery or some other DC source so the consumer has the choice of what to draw power from. Another option is the Hyperion Duo, but they cost a bit more. If you want to save some money, you can buy any charger capable of charging 6s and make a wiring harness that connects two of your 3s batteries to make them one 6s for charging purposes. If you go this route, I recommend THIS charger. There is a GUIDE for how to wire two 3s batteries into 1 6s HERE. Just scroll down and choose "3s +3s typical lipo with Hyperion connector" from the drop down menu and a schematic will pop up.

hope that helps get you started.
    be nice.

I got tired of getting a new charger every time I stepped up to a slightly better/bigger vehicle. I had 3 chargers, and when I decided to get into an eRevo that uses 2 packs, I was under powered again. I bit the bullet and got a Hyperion Duo charger. Pricey, but I don't think I will outgrow it any time soon.

For a power supply, I was in the same boat. Since the Hyperion Duo can run on 24 volts, I picked up one of these -> http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...DLVI%26ps%3D54

That is a 24 volt power supply - DON'T TRY IT ON A CHARGER THAT IS ONLY RATED AT 12 VOLTS INPUT!

I can charge two 6s packs at up to 8 amps at the same time with this setup.

with it's user upgradeable firmware, the Hyperion should have a long, long runway!

The biggest differance between the Duo and the new Duo II is the new one can discharge at a higher rate than the old one (50 watts per bay.)

The new 720i also supports charging/balancing 7S Lipo packs. Perhaps the next generation CC, Tekin, LRP, etc. will support 7S?

For the foreseeable future, the Hyperion 610i and DUO II are dialed. You simply can't go wrong with either.

Yes, IIRC the charger comes with banana plugs that go into the charger itself and the other side just has tinned wire. So you will need to solder on your connectors of choice.

Actually.... if you buy 6 of those, then you should be done. IIRC they come with both the male and female ends, and for the batteries, you will only be using the female ones. So you should be able to use one of the male ends from those sets and put it on the charger.

One more question i been looking for that charger with a power supply and i found one here in denmark but the power supply is only 20v 150Watt and the charger can output 360Watt that just dosent add up? Is there no better power supply? I need it to be 240Volt.

all the ones I know of are 110, but there is a way to convert a computer power supply, and I know alot of those come with a 110/220v switch on the back, so maybe that would be an option.

    something similar to this;

I tought of that but many PC power supply comes with 2-3-4 12V lines so they divide the amps. That proberly wont be good?

Edit: How many Amps at 12V will the charger need to preform 100% ?

    i donno.

but you're not alone in your search for a powersupply. I did a search and dug up a recent thread about it.
    http://monster.traxxas.com/showthrea...ghlight=badcop

there are some suggestions in there that will work. They all seem capable of both 120 and 240v.

    So i ordered my new E-Revo BL and 4x 3S 5000 mAh *****.

But the *****'s are in backorder so im gonner order 2 of these http://www.*********.com/*********/s...idProduct=6417 just to get started.

Im also gonner buy this charger http://www.amainhobbies.com/product_...ducts_id/32897 And a power supply, I thinking of getting a computer power supply and use the 12V output but i dont how how many A it will need?

The charger needs some plugs for balacing the lipos right? Where do i find them? It needs to be the right one for that battery and the charger right?

Im also gonner buy some trx plugs for the lipos and charger http://www.*********.com/*********/s...idProduct=7875

I also want some upgrade parts here is what i found:
    Traxxas Drive Shaft Revo/T-Maxx w/OptiDrive (4) Http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...451R&search=Go
    2xTraxxas Tires & Wheels Assembled Glued (2) http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...375R&search=Go
2xTubes Lightweight Aluminum Red Turnbuckle http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...338R&search=Go
    2xTraxxas Aluminum Pushrod Revo (2) http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXHFV8&P=M

So i will have a extra set of tires and i can upgrade to the shinny red turnbuckles, Is this foolish? Is there anything eles i might consider? What about the E-REVO TWO-SPEED CONVERSION KIT? Does anyone use that?

    Thanks :-)

Okay dosent look like anyone has anything to say, but i have talket to the shop where im gonner buy the charger and they have a balancer plug for it too so that is sorted. And by calculations the Power Supply has to be around 30-40Amps so im still looking for that.

I would still like some input regarding the spare/opgrade parts, i read on the forum that spare rod ends would be a good thing to have is there anything eles? I just dont want to stand out in the field have broken something that costs 2$ that i might aswell had ordered from the start.
