My new look. Ditched the wing for a wheelie bar, new body and tires. Old setup is on page 1 or 2, the VW bug.
The new setup, which seems great after 1 run. Hpi GT S compound tires, and Hpi warlock 17mm chrome rims.

Thats good to hear. I have the Road Rages coming and will mount them on the Tech 5 wheels. It looks like the Tech 5's have less offset but i'll know for sure when they get here. I was curious as to size comparisons of these two. I personally like the looks of the Phaltline set but i've had experience with 2.2 Road Rages and they are great asphalt/concrete tires.Originally Posted by RedRaider

I'm watermarking my photos and uploading them to Flickr as I type this...
I have purchased 4 sets of HPI Phaltlines (for upcoming speed runs), I can tell you they are not worth the money for concrete/asphalt bashing. My first set lasted only four recharges on my 4S LiPoROIDS.
I am really liking these 40 series PL Road Rages, they do tend to 'skip' a lot in high speed full-lock turning though. The Phaltlines rather 'drifted' through the same maneuvers, which I kinda prefer..
I have some 3.2 PL Road Rages on the way, going to use them for a particular body I'm having done for my son. The 'Old School" members of the forum should get a real kick out of what my son dreamed up...lolololol
I also tend to prefer some off-set to my wheels, not only more aesthetic to me but also more functional.

Also thanks for heads up on Road Rages. I'll post the Tech 5 w/RR mounted as soon as i get them. Thought the Phaltlines looked better until now. Thanks again.

No problem guys, just glad I could help...
Personally, I prefer the Blast/Phaltline combo when it comes to aesthetics, problem is the Phaltlines get chewed up quickly, in my case a total of 80-120 minutes of use...
The 3 remaining sets I have, will get belted and used for speed runs only.

Can you fit Traxxas Hurricane 3.8'' wheels on the 40 series tires?
Thanks

Nope.
The 40 series are too wide.
40 series tires only fit 40 series wheels.

LOL AWSOME I would have had the same pic almost 3 sets a few months ago. Down to my last set now. The mig wire belting worked awsome for me but stopping from those insane speeds if an issue in NY with curbs everywhere. Soon as one of those wheels touches a curb here its all over, For speed runs anyway, For drifting tires they are awsome.Originally Posted by RedRaider

I love performing power slides with the Phaltlines, I don't enjoy scrubbing all the tread off in @ 80-120 minutes of use though.
I'll post a pic this week of the runway I'll be using for speed runs next month...![]()

Yeah, it's owned by a family friend and the company I work. We milled the old runway this past Spring, made the new asphalt and laid it. It's a P401 Marshall Design. Nice and smooth, with a very nice decline at one end...![]()

Here are a couple of shots of new wheels and tires for my E-Revo:
These are Black Chrome Axial 8 Spoke Beadlock wheels with Pro-Line 40 Series Masher Tires
Gearing will be changed to accomodate the larger diameter rubber.

So are you guys having the problems that others are saying about the beadlocks not holding?

It's only money!
Not at all. IM only running 4S and cant keep the front end down so it stays on its wheels long enough.

Those are some of the better looking beadlocks that I've seen.
They look great installed.

Altered Ego. How heavy are those beadlocks? I have been eyeing those same wheels but I'm worried they will be to heavy especially with 40 series tires.

I should have weighed the rim before installing a tire on it. DOH!!! I will weigh both the stock wheel/tire combo and the Axial wheel/Masher tire combo and post the data tonight.
I purchased them knowing they are heavier than the stock combination, but wanting to use them more for snow and offroad bashing. Obviously not the BEST choice for running on pavement. For that I've got some other wheel/tire combinations in mind. I do believe the added unsprung weight will adversely affect the performance slightly and put a larger strain on the drivetrain, but the Revo is built to take some punishment. As I mentioned in the post with the pictures, I am gearing the truck differently when I run those larger tires as well.
It's nice reliving your childhood...they never had things like this when I was a kid!!!
For those who are interested:
Stock E-Revo wheels & tires weighed an average of 283 grams each.
Axial 8-Spoke Black Chrome Beadlock Wheels & Pro-Line 40 Series Masher Tires weighed an average of 446 grams each.
That's a difference of 163 grams per wheel/tire combination or a total of 652 grams of unsprung weight that is being added to the vehicle.
FYI, the E-Revo brushless vehicle weighs 3820 grams in stock trim.
Are traxxas wheels a odd size so only traxxas tires will fit on them?? Im talking about the 3.8" Gemini™ (black-chrome)with 17mm splined hex. What companies make tires for traxxas wheels? i didnt see any pics with the traxxas wheels and other brand of tire.. thanks
I belive 40 series are 3.8" but i havnt tryed it to be sure.Originally Posted by wood4you
Traxxas uses a different type of bead on their tires/wheels. I believe, though I may be incorrect, the only other brand tires that will fit on the Traxxas whelks are some models from Panther.
As for 40 series Pro-Line tires. Yes the bead diameter is 3.8", but the width is what causes you to use 40 series wheels. The only 40 series wheels are made by Pro-Line and Axial.
40 series Pro-Line tires will NOT fit on Traxxas wheels. The bead is wrong, but more importantly the Traxxas wheels are too narrow to fit the 40 series tires.
If you don't believe me, buy a set of each and attempt to mount them up...![]()

If you look on the first page of this thread, i've got these tires on a set of Cheyenne beadlocks. I didn't really care for them but i had gotten them in a trade. I sold them and kept the tires. Just finally got a new set of wheels.
I usually run a truck body but it's currently destroyed... so new one is waiting for the weather to get back to normal so it can have some paint. I put the stock body back on so ya'll could see what it looked like on the ERBE... BTW these are heavy. they weigh a full pound each (510g or something like that) with the cheyennes it was 580g so it's mostly the tire.
Axial Oversize with 40 series moabs:
These will mostly be used on my mud/rock revo which currently has a yellow body but is waiting a red one:

Finally got a chance to run these on the ERBE, geared 18/68 on 4s and it's a beast. These still aren't great for high speed, but off road they are great and the MMM doesn't even know the extra weight is there!

Are JConcepts Rulux half-ups narrower then the non half-ups? I'm trying to work out the difference but they look very similar.
