    Sidewinder 5700, what gearing? PLEASE HELP!

    I'm going to buy a Sidewinder 5700kv brushless system but I have heard that the motor gets too hot with stock gearing. So everybody that is driving a slash with a Sidewinder 5700kv system and the motor does not gets to hot PLEASE tell me what gearing you are using!

    Try starting out 90 spur & 14-16 pinion.

    i wouldnt push much higher either... I had that same motor and it couldnt handle that much more. I bought the 4600kv the next time around.

    I run 16/86 and temps seem fine. I beat the **** out of it, on/off throttle playing on a set of double/tripple option jumps, and I was only in the upper 150s.

    What temp should i go over? i have a temp gun coming finally. Motor felt pretty hot the other day and that had me a little worried.

    I stop at 160-170. I have got to 197 once but I started paying more attn to it. My next will be the 4600kv.
    No matter where you go there you are.

    14-16/90 gearing is good especially for summer.

    During winter, go with 18/90-86 gearing.
    Slash w/MM 5700kv, 3s Lipo and many other goodies.
