    Bearing Size/Quantity

    Does anyone know how many of each different size bearing is needed. The parts list provided with the kit tells you the size of the bearings that are in the kit, but not how many of each are needed. Boca doesn't make a bearing kit for the e-revo yet so I'm trying to piece together my own. I'd appreciate the help.

    It really depends on what you want to replace with bearings. if you just want to do the rockers, you'll need those bearings, but if you want to do the entire truck, there would be significantly more. the easiest way to find out would be to go through the EXPLODED VIEWS writing down how many of each plastic bushing you see (write down the quantity and the part number). once you've finished, go to the PARTS LIST and find the size of each bushing you have written down. now you have your list.

    I'm working on going through the parts list now. I'm only replacing the drive bearings, I don't mind the bushing in the steering components. The stock bearing seals failed, which is why I'm replacing the bearings.

    Oh, gotcha. Hate to hear of such problems, but yea, in the future, referring to the drawings and parts list are the easiest way to figure these things out usually. Personally, I have every Exploded View and Parts list saved to my computer for just such the case that I decide to replace a part, or do a mod. I feel it's rather faster than asking the question and then waiting for an answer. Besides, why ask someone else if the information is as easy to get as what can be found in Traxxas' documentation.

    I'm all for doing it yourself, just didn't want to have to slave away for a half hour if someone already had the info I was looking for.

    there's 2 kits available at thetoyz..
    one full kit with 33pcs for 29 dollars
    one wheel bearing kit with 8 pcs for 9 bucks

    "slaving away for half an hour" ... .. seriously ?

    and btw, i won't confirm it. i'm not going to waste my time doing a bearing count if the op can't do it himself.

    Does anyone know the other dimensions of the bearing

    For Example

    4x8

    ID=4mm
    OD=8mm

    Width=?

    I am trying to source the bearings to save a little money. (Or perhaps buy better quality bearings)

    I will post my findings after I do the shopping..

    Thanks

    Edit: I found some of the info I was looking for

    4x7x2.5
    5x8x2.5

    Still needed:

    4x8x"X"
    8x12x"X"

    i saw that, but seriously $90 for 31 bearings? that's $3 each, seems quite a bit excessive to me.

    I talked to the customer support and they informed me that it was a 37? piece kit.

    If you price out ceramic bearings it is actually quite reasonable.

    I just question the utility of such a thing... I held some full ceramic bearings that were made for an F1 application. It wasw simply the most impressive thing I have ever seen mechanically. I started the spinning of the bearing and they continued spinning for what seemed like ages...

    With the $ that I am sinking into my MERV I figure why not....

    I don't know that I will purchase the kit until I know a bit more about the construction of the bearings. I bet it is just a steel race with ceramic balls, which isn't a " true " ceramic bearing setup.

    Final sizes from searching/assuming

    4x8x3------------------------15-----(19?)
    4x7x2.5----------------------08
    8x12x3.5---------------------08
    5x8x2.5---------------------- 02

    If anyone wants to confirm it would be helpful....

    "37 piece kit" probably includes the box they come in, and maybe some usless tool.
