    My Racecar Thread

Well here they are, the pics of our 1962 Chevy Biscayne. http://s270.photobucket.com/albums/j...t=IMG_1588.jpg.

The first time we took it out was about 2 weeks ago...first pass the top half of the motor blew up. Litaraly the whole top half of the motor is shot. We have all the parts for the new motor and are looking at about 2 weeks untill the car goes out again.

The car should run 9.60's (we run a quarter mile)

Nice Chassis work up front there... Couldn't help but noticing it.... So many gearheads think it's all engine and really the suspension has a huge amount to do with getting down the line.

Very nice setup, look like it was shortened just a wee bit.lolll

I'm guessing it was a 4 door and not a coupe. I don't know much about Biscayne's they are kinda rare in these parts....

Biscayne's are kinda rare everywere there wern't that meny made and were only made for 15 years i think. The car actually started its life as a coupe, not a 4 door.

He's posted a bunch of pics, the way your thread shows it's hard for others to see more than the one pic unless they know how to navigate through your Photobucket pages.

Tide's is painted, not a primer puppy, also he's got some action shots.

I think that's probably why. Either that or everyone else on this forum just hates you. j/k Just kidding!!!! lolll

I know what it takes to get where you guys are, car looks good and sorry to hear about the motor. I would like to tell you it's all down hill from here but it's not, if it can go wrong it will. My father owned a 64 Plymouth Belvedere super stock 426 wedge and i draged raced the car up to 1989. When pop passed we sold the car to a friend that still runs the car the way we did. I love the early 60 cars of all types.

    Nice..

man, I love a sheetmetal interior. biscayne's are sweet.

I love those kinda cars that make people wonder what they are at a carshow.

    like a biscayne, or a bel-air bubbletop
Don't worry, its a rental. It can take it...

The reason people aren't commenting is because there isn't much to comment about. And your sig is a bit ignorant, probably offends people. Paint the car, post some specs and change the sig and you will probably garner a few more responses.

Sorry for the whole darkness of the vids, the tracks kinda dark in ohio at 9 at night.

Second vid (third run) was a 11.69

What kind of power output do you think the engine is making?
    What kind of fuel?

I never knew eagle made pistons? I thought they were a rod and crank company.

Were thinking the engine is making somewere between 6 and 650. Im not sure on the octane but racing gas.

I have to correct myself i didn't get to it by the edit deadline, they are eagle rods not pistons.

We are planning on running just local. If we do ever travel it will probably be like once every couple of years if that. We have 3 tracks all within a hour from us and are planning on running one for points next year. That dosent leave a lot of time for traveling. And we dont have any major sponcers, so just the money for gas would be expencive.

Delay boxes are the cheaters way of racing IMO. To me it is get in, burn out, and then stand on it. A 10.66 isnt a bad time with that big of a car.

I am looking for either a Vega or Monza to build and start racing again.

    I GOT UPDATES!

Took the car out sunday. Ran 4 times. First run was 8th mile because the track was wet...ran a 6.34 at 107MPH.

After the first round of time trials they opened the track up for 1/4 mile (what we wanted to run). Second pass was full bore, wide open, pedal to the floor. Ran a 9.99 at 132MPH, acomplishing our goal of having a 9 second car, but not the way we want it. Our car should run 9.60's.

Third run was also a 9.99 at 132MPH(just .003 faster than the run before). Only vid from the day. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yolNQP8tpc

Fourth run was a 10.01 again at 132MPH. The car wasn't to happy with us afterward, 0 oil pressure.

We got it all sorted out thow....Next race is saturday, if your near Thompson Ohio pm me if you would like to come. Its for rainbow babys and childrens hospital-all the procedes go to the hospital. It will be our last time out this year.

Thanks for reading, i know this was a long post.

Sounds like your Dad is getting it together....

Anything that's under 11 seconds on gas is very respectable...

The "team" is getting it together (when i say "team" i mean the people who actually do stuff at the track, me, my brother, my dad, and my uncle(everyone else says there part of the team but they just sit on there but and tell people how to do things))

    Thanks for the compliment

    Will do.

    How about some vega power!
    371 stroker
    871 carbs
Custom built blower (hat not installed on vega)
Putting out around 1k horses, capable of 8's.
We actually put so much power into a short wheelbase car, that it was not safe.
    A little burn out:

getting a vega to do 8's is somewhat easy, getting a biscayne to go anywhere near that fast is darn good, considering it weight's about double compared to the vega!! heck you could put that vega in the trunk of the biscayne!!!

getting anything to go 8's is an accomplishment. Its easyr to get a vega to go 8's than a boat like a biscayne, but a 8 second car of any kind is hard to obtain, and very respectable.
