Lightbulb thoughts and ideas for tire/gearing in grass

I did a search but did not find too much directly related to what I am wondering ...

stock slash with 6cell batteries, ideas and suggestions for a taller narrow tire and gearing, or does wider work better for running in the grassy yard?

I can mow lower, but it would be simpler to adjust the stance of the slash I think.

What I do is a mow a path as low as I can get it without mowing dirt. I run 1/8 buggy tires and wheels but I also run brushless.

I assume your's is still stock brushed, I ran mine stock for a while on the short grass with the stock tires and an 18 pinion.

yep, drive line is completely stock. I am still running factory gearing. I have picked up a few different tooth pinion gears to try.

currently all stock but the RPM cover and big bore shocks, it is 18/86.

for grass i recommend 16-18t for pinion and 90t for the spur.
Stock tires work fine for me in grass as long as it is kept short.

Paddels in the grass are alot of fun. I am running the vxl setup and could pop wheelies in the grass through about half of the juice in my 6 cells with the paddels

run a 16 tooth pinion on the 86tooth spur... I found this setup is perfect for grass. The factory gearing works fine, but the motor gets hot.

oh, and for grass get proline trac-ta-gator tires... your will NEVER lose traction with them! (just don't run them on-road or else you won't have tread left!)

18/86 is factory, the Titan gets quite warm when I play in the yard with the 18/86, will try 16 and see what it does

yea, go 16 tooth for grass... 18tooth works great for very short grass/dirt.

here is a pic, the original needed a 1/16 hex to remove, thought they were all metric. The new 16t is installed, will see how it does tomorrow.

6 cell on stock Titan is too weak for grass imo, and you'll decrease your runtime considerably. For all day bashing and tight tracks, I've found 16/90 to be the best for stock Titan, combined with 7 cell..so much torque, it gives new meaning to 'stock'
Myth busted: Blitz is not faster on the track.

For grass wider is better. Talons work well on grass, but I hate them on pavement. Gladiators seem to work really well on grass too, and I'm saying this from experience, not just what I've heard.

the proline switch tires are wider than the stock tires, and they have a flater contact patch... they have a much greater amount of traction than stock!

+1 those tires grip like nothing else on the market, only use them on soft ground though, unless you want some slicks

went to the local hobby rc gathering, every-other sunday from 11-5, today. The gearing was fun as the track is tight and small with only 1 straight away. However it was on asphalt parking lot, not tried grass yet.

The 1/16 fit like a glove, the 1.5 was too loose on the stock installed pinion, only thought it was odd was all.

I agree that 7 cell will be better. I will see about a 90t spur as well, LHS should have one of those in stock. I will eventually order proline NiMh, not going to make move to liPo yet.

I have no idea on the purple, it has always been purple ... thought it was kinda cool lol

I will also look at wider tires, I have a pair masher 2000, though they are very heavy, maybe too heavy??

wider on both front and rears I am guessing as well?

don't use masher tires... they will kill your truck... they're like wearing steel flip-flops... you just don't.
