RCOVERBOARD hooked me up & painted a body for my T-Maxx. It arrived in the mail today & I must say, it's fantastic!![]()
I'll get it trimmed up and add the scoop & stickers in the next few days & will post some pictures w/ the T-Maxx.
Thanks RCOVERBOARD!! I really appreciate it.

Looks pretty cool, a step back from those extremely large blower motors.

It'll have the larger blower. I still need to assemble it.Originally Posted by Grand National

Oh you didn't mention that you had one.Originally Posted by KCMike
IMO I like it without it.

Anyone know if there is an instructional manual for the body?
1) Installing the rear piece
2) Sticker placement
I've Googled it but can't find anything.
T-Maxx 3.3 | Losi Mini DT | Blade CX2
I have never seen instructions for decal placement but they are generally self explanatory.

It does sound like a dumb question, however I wondered about a placement index because on the decal sheet there are index numbers next to each sticker.
I can get the scoop figured out as there are screws, however I don't have a clue on the back bumper.
Heh -- I'm such a "body" newb.

For the scoop, use the 2 screws that were with the body. Use the double faced tape for the rear bumper.
Normally the bodies come with the decal layout, but for some reason this one didnt have it in the package, sorry about that.
I am happy you like it.
If anyone else wants a body done, just let me know lol. I had forgotten how much I liked painting these. I have been so busy painting real cars, I hadnt done a RC body for about 6 months.

Ok, I see the screws & the tape. I'm sure it'll make more sense once I have the body trimmed.Originally Posted by RCOVERBOARD
As for the decal layout, not worries. I should be able to get it all inline but just for curiousity's sake, I've emailed HPI for the decal layout template.
It's awesome man. Once I started racing my Slash I'll probably coming knocking again.

I just finished the cut out & am really glad I got the trimming set w/ the curved scissors & reamer at the hobby shop.Originally Posted by fantomaxx
Overall I'm happy with my trimming, however it could be better. There's definitely an art to getting it cut out!

The way I trim them is I just use my razor blade, scribe the marks, then I actually break the excess pieces off. The only reason I do not like to trim bodies that I paint for customers is I know how the USPS handles packages, and that extra material helps protect them when shipping.

No worries. I got it all taken care of last night/this morning. I was up until 4am working on it. The only bad part about that is my son was up @ 8:15 am! Ouch!
Hopefully I can take pictures there in a few ...
Then, later on I can pull a Costanza & take a nap under my desk.![]()

Looks real nice. Good job RCoverboard.
Looks killer Mike. Just an idea for air flow tho. What I have done before on a few bodies is cut out the grill area, then use some shoe goo and window screen. That way you dont have to cut a big hole in the windshield.

That's a good idea ... never thought of doing that. I can see where it might get hotter than the stock body.
I also thought about cutting out the side windows. It'd be kinda I was cruisin' on a summer night. Maybe with the windows rolled down as well as the mesh on the grill the temp would stay cooler.
Btw, did anyone notice my failure? I have 2 antennea holes. The first one I used (where the body was dimpled) made the antennea slant in an awkward way. Kinda dumb, I know, but I just sent ahead and made a 2nd one in the winshield.

Son of a ...
I took it outside a few moments ago to run it during break & it won't start. I sweitched out the plug & the blue wire, however the glow plug light on the starter pack won't light up (I fully charged it earlier today).
Anyone know if the plug will glow orange if I try to start it our of the motor? I figured it would but wasn't sure. I checked the fuel as well and it is getting fulet to the motor. It's the darn glow plug light.
T-Maxx 3.3 | Losi Mini DT | Blade CX2
i did the same on my charger body put a hole in the roof then i found out i could just run it out the windsheld
it should glow if u ground the glow plug

Nice Body!!![]()
Nothin' like a 4 on the floor and a V8
That body looks great! It makes me want to try my hand at painting a body... haha... My stocker body is completely cut up for air flow and then I rolled it and cracked the weaker points where I had cut parts out.
Nice Body!!

Thanks all. Now I just need to get it going ...
I think I might have burned up my EZ Start motor.
T-Maxx 3.3 | Losi Mini DT | Blade CX2
You will have to hold the plug against the motor and hit the button to see if it is glowing. Also, make sure the yellow wire did not break on you. That wire is your ground wire, and it needs to be there if you are using the ex start for the glow plug.
I do not suggest cutting out the side windows. This will weaken the body too much, and it will crack.
My truck sees more air than yours!!!
Ya, I thought more about the side windows & agree. I don't think it's a good idea.Originally Posted by RCOVERBOARD
This afternoon I stopped by my LHS to ask for some advice. My guy there used a new Traxxas EZ Start wand and the truck fired right up. After I told him it wasn't the plug or the blue wire, he almost instantly new it was the wand. he said they have seen some bad EZ Starts wands this summer.
He also showed me how to ground the plug using the side of the motor. Pretty cool stuff.
I called Traxxas around 5pm PST & they are sending me out a replacement. The call was literally only about 3 minutes. Good stuff.
