    2s2p LiFE packs?

Just looking at battery options. Finishing converting my 3.3 to a ERBE and still don't have the warm fuzzy about Lipo. Would these packs work for bashing with the MMM combo? No racing, speed runs, just backyard bashing. Looking for plug and play ease.

I would say those would work out just fine. You will need to get different connectors though. They will also be a little bit slower than Lipo.

Those should work fine. Just make sure you get/have a charger with a LiFe/A123 charge mode.

I know how you feel about lipo, I rather trade off a little speed for peace of mind of never worrying that my batteries will explode, if for any reason.

My trucks are mainly entertainment for my 2 and 4 year old right now so safety is a concern for me. They can get into enough trouble on their own without any help from me.

Anyone have some gearing options for these?

    They also have these:

but would require some mods otherwise 19.8v would be nice.

Will you use the E chassis or 3.3? You could try 3s+2S.

FYI maxamps claims the cells form those packs are their factory rejects.

Interesting food for thought that. Did Maxamps say the ******* packs specifically? I find that strange.

Don't turn this into a flame war about brands. His question was if the *******'s worked, and they do, stay on topic.

Those packs won't be as fast or have as much punch as a 2s lipo since the volts are lower

Read his posts, he doesnt want to go with Lipos for safety reasons, as his children drive them. LiFe is much safer.

The way I see it is these packs will be better than NIMH even if I use my Promatch Ener-G 4600 packs. For bashing type driving will the difference between the LiFE and 4s Lipo be noticible? Lipo require a special charger as well. For the cost it may be worth trying as I'm sure that the performance will still be greater than a stock E revo with twin Titan 550's.

Well, LiFE also requires a special charger.

Most good lipo chargers can also charge life, so that shouldn't really be a problem.

Sorry, I mistyped. An earlier post stated that I would need a specific charger for the LiFE packs. I was simply stating that the Lipo need a specific charger as well. I know that they won't have the punch of the Lipo but will I really see the difference. I'm going from Nitro to brushless so........

Well since your going from Nitro to Brushless, even with the LiFE packs you are going to notice a large difference in performance. Honestly with the LiFE packs usually being able to handle abuse much better than LiPo packs you could theoretically gear up to achieve the same speed as LiPo but at those speeds, even 4s LiPo I find my ERBE a handful to handle on anything but asphalt and extremely smooth ground.

You will only see a slight difference in acceleration and top speed between lipo and Life, but the LiFe packs are much faster than nimh, and brushless behaves much differently than nitro, you wont have to wait for the rpms to spool up, its power on tap, instantly.

I went brushless on my Rustler recently and it's a beast even on my Ener-G 4600 7 cell packs.

That seems to be the general consensus on the LiFE vs. Lipo. I just wish i could find a way to make the 3s2p packs fit without hacking the chassis too much.

Anyone have any gearing options, suggestions? Or should I start with stock and go from there? Thanks again for all the replies.
