    vxl 4-tec

just put a vxl set up in my 4-tec. I have yet to run it cause its late, but i guess my question is how long will all the drive train last with this kind of power upgrade ? it only had a stinger in it before... thanks

The nitro diffs are a good upgrade if you plan on more horsepower.

I don't use a vxl Im doing crazy things. I have the mamba system with Castles 9000 motor on 3s. I haven't been able to get beyond 1/3 throttle. But the 5700 system on 2s should easily be in the 50s.

If you go with that much power you should get some N4-tec arms, it widens it to 200mm so more stability.

are the nitro arms a direct fit? how much mod is involved in making them fit? are the belts a problem?

Heres the thing with the 3.3 diff swap the belts will be borderline crazy tight so on the power im using they may go out faster then normal. As for the 3.3 a arms the front is a direct fit but the rear I did some mods on to get it to where I liked it. Im working right now but im gonna take na bunch of pictures and who knows maybe re post a how too of both swaps.

The pinion direction isn't important. Some motors have longer shafts than others so you gotta do what ya gotta do.

i hit 57.7 mph with the 5700kv castle motor.

i will be able to go faster once i put the body on (getting dark and lazy did not put it on)

and i only had a short run way, my reviver on my 2.4ghz went out so i had to get the old crystals out

but o my i got to that speed so quick compared to my rusty, but my rusty still has a higher speed........for right now

You need to go find the old style slipper clutch. It will help out accelerating tremendously.

I've been thinking obout going brushless in my 4 tec too.
I put a modified motor in there and the rear belt rubs on it.

Does the belt rub on the brushless motor also?

Thats good to hear. I just put a Titan in there and the belt just touches it. I just hate the battery compartment, you are so limited on what batteries you can use.

This is a pic of my 4-tec with nitro arms and foams, I also used a esc plate to make it look cleaner. This is from before I did the diff swap

I put some little plastic spacers under the mounts for my battery hold downs to raise them up, and dremeled the doors that clip on each end. It helps, but it still isn't perfect.
