    Lipos for Rustler

Was recently given a Rustler with the XL-5 esc and brushed motor. Currently I have ERevo and Slash that I have upgraded to brushless and run 3s and 2s Lipo batteries, respectively. It has been a long time since I have had a brushed motor and this ESC. My question is, can I run Lipo batteries in this or will I cook the ESC and motor?

I don't see why you couldn't use the 2S, but I may be missing something since I don't own any 2S (only 3S) and only use my NiMH batteries with my XL-5/Titan.

A 3S LiPo will exceed the rated voltage of both the ESC (9.6V) and the motor (8.4V).

I recall a thread here recently of someone using a 3S with the XL-5/Titan, and IIRC he hasn't had any problems with it yet. But if you knowingly exceed what the electronics are rated for, you do so at your own risk.

You can run 2s. You need a LVC or LVA though.
