    Big Earth Quake

I have lived in So Calif for an accumulated 20+ yrs and have grown rather callus toward earth quakes. We had a big one today that was actually centered in Baja Mexico and registered 7.2 on the rictor scale. This one did not feel very violent here but was the LONGEST lasting quake I have ever felt. The house just kept shaking and felt like it was never going to stop. It was really odd, in all my quake experiences I have never felt one that just kept on rolling like this one did.

I heard one news report that said 45 seconds, that does not sound like much but for an earth quake that is a very long time. Most dont last more than 5-10 seconds.

The earthquake apparently struck mainly in Mexico(from reading). They say it's the worse quake they have had in 18 years!!!

We had one last night also but it was smaller then an after shock for that one. They keep saying that we are do for a big one here, since it has been awhile.

yeah I live near Dadx2mj and I felt it.

at first you could feel the rattling P waves for a few seconds, then the rolling S waves for like 10 seconds

    it was pretty exciting.

Itís just Mother earth doing her thing Ė Remember, weíre all just floating around on molten rock. I know the one that hit Chilies was reported to have sped up the rotation of the planet and thrown off the poles just a tad. I would be curious to see some before/after measurements to see how far the plates shifted.

I know man, itís all good. But, in my 48 years on this planet, I canít recall another time when there was this much seismic activity world-wide in such a (relatively) short period of time. It makes me wonder if thereís more shifting of the plates than has been detected/measured yet.

Wow. i cant even imagine what an earthquake feels like. We had a slight tremor here once about 20 years ago, but nothing else since.

How often do you guys in cali feel these?

Is it hard to stay standing during one?

Can you actually see a fault line?

Sorry for the dumb questions, but like i said, i cant even imagine what its like. I can only go by what you guys tell me.

I've only been around 18 years, but I've thought the same thing lately. There's a freaky amount of earthquakes happening all over the place! I'm dying waiting for Al Gore to blame global warming! Errr--I mean, climate change.

they happen every day to a certain degree we do not feel them untill like 3.0 ish but 1's and 2's are all the time. No hard to stay standing kinda feels like being on a messed up boat. yes you can see fault lines the look like little mountains or piles of rocks.
