In this thread, I will post descriptions of how to convert your slash 4x4 into something great for the street. Including the paint process.
I wanted to do this because I could't see investing so much money into a 1/8 nitro with electric conversion.
I also couldn't stand the aluminum chassis scraping the ground whenever I ran on a "not so perfect" surface.
First....the body!
I picked the Kyosho GT Subaru body, well, because it fit and it is all wheel drive.
I also had trouble thinking of what "theme" I wanted. I like the Ken Block stuff, but it's been done before. So here is a Ken Block/DC Shoe inspired paint job
Starting with the blue carbon fiber hood (spray a thin coat of pearl blue, followed by satin chrome masked with drawer liner, of course)
My DC Shoe sponsor (chrome paint) It doesn't look like chrome until it's backed in black
Now, to back the chrome and hood
Here's some pearl charcoal for the top
It's late, stay tuned...I'll also have the correct wheel offset and easy body mounting options to come. Along with some more photos of a finished body.
hey wheres ur regular body? if ur not going to use it ill buy itOriginally Posted by highrevolution

I've also got the 7 cell, radio and receiver, stock shocks, wheels and tires (black beadlock), all pulled new and never ran. Gonna have to post on Ebay soon!
What wheel and tire combo did you go with?
Patience Mo...I'll share soon!
how much for the body?
2nd place is 1st loser......
Any special wheel hubs in order to get the offset right?
I've seen them going on Ebay for about $25-$30 plus shipping. But shipping is so expensive, it's hardly worth selling. Do you have anything you'd like to trade?Originally Posted by RCNEWB5150

THAT'S RIGHT...A CHEETAH!

Did some reverse thinking for the grill. Thought I'd try the "carbon fiber" look but oposite with colors to attempt to make it look like mesh.
Here's what I ended up with.

Can you explain a little bit more how to do the carbon look! I love it but do not know how to do it.
thanks

Carbon look is really easy. All you need is some drawer liner for tools or even kitchen cabinets. First, spray a light even coating of your choice of color carbon. For example, I chose blue for this project. Next, lay down the "mask" and use pearl silver or satin chrome. Remove mask, and lay down the black.Originally Posted by peteslash01
You could get a little fancier and "layer" the silver or blue to get a more 3D look. Just shift the mask diagonally and spray your color.
Fade is done for the cheetah look! Think I over tinted the windows. Hope I don't get pulled over!
Now to get the carbon fiber wing painted.
Here it is with the overspray film pulled.

hirev, VERY nice!

Airbrush or spray can?
More RC's than most of the people here.
Airbrush. I'd hate to try this with cans. Although I know someone out ther can do it.
great thread, but so far, its just a "how to paint" thread.. lets see what you do with the body/chassis and suspension setup to make it onroad
When i did mine, I went with the thundertech LCG chassis and put on some anacondas. then had to tune the suspension in order for the shell not to hit the pavement on cornering..
so im interested in seeing what you do there and if its much different from whats been done
Looks good so far
I will describe how to modify the factory suspension here soon. So far, I've been able to corner and brake hard without the body scraping. I'll post up pics of the wheels mounted (no tires) and body.Originally Posted by Telnets
Ok, now for the wheel of choice.
These are the Rustler electric front ofset (wider) I end up going with the rear electric offset. I'll explain later.

AAAHHHH!!! That is sick!! The carbon fiber and chrome logos look awesome! A while the leopard print isn't my favorite part, it's very well done too!

Some of you may have noticed the missing rear bumper. Well, you're gonna have to modify for the body to fit. I did find out that the RPM rear bumper will fit under the Subaru, just don't have pics yet.

And now, on to mounting the body...
Looking good! I'd like to try this conversion myself.
