This thread will be for PERSONAL experiences with gearing.
Since most all of us are now using nitro 3.3 diffs conventional gearing tables are all irrelevant.
We will use the format:
1) Diff type (e.g. stock or 3.3)
2) ESC used (xl-5, vxl etc.)
3) Motor type (brushed/brushless)
4) Motor rating (turns/Kv)
5) Pinion size (28, 29 etc.)
6) Spur size (78, 81 etc.)
7) Slipper clutch (yes or no)
8) Your personal opinion (please keep it short and to the point)
9) Any misc. information (bushings/bearings, wide conversion etc.)
Take your time to help each other out, we all need this information.
It may take a while to catch on but it will be very useful in to everyone.
Feel free to provide links.
Please sticky

You forgot to add type of batts not brand but nimh vs lipo, 2s vs 3s.

1) Pro Ball Diffs
2) VXL 3s
3) Velineon
4) 3500kv/ 10 turn
5) 23 pinion
6) 90 spur
7) no
8) Drifting setup, way too short, probably going to a 28 pinion
9) 6 cell Nimh batt, (I'm cheap), wide conversion, all carbon, ESC moved up front, Associated Factory Team TC4 shocks.
This gearing is super short. It works ok for low speed drifting, but I will most likely drop a 28 tooth in and call it good.

9(6 cell batt, need more bearings, and 3.3 diffs.i dont know about the gearing it is what i had on hand and its been raining so i havnt took it out yet.

Hi,you guys might know.I recently bought a pro .15 4-tec and i'm in the middle of converting it to a 2.5.I'm wondering,is the 1st and 2nd gears, all the gearing the same as the 2.5 and the 3.3? I had a 3.3 yrs ago and didn't really pay it any mind,so i don't know the specs and what not. Also will it be a really big noticable difference with the 2.5 then the .15?Thanks.
nitroholic 3.3,
Someone may know the answer to your question here but I think you might have better luck in the nitro 4 tec section. This is the electric 4 tec section. Sorry I can't help otherwise.
Are you drag racing with this gearing.
These one sounds like a drag race gear setup also1)3.3 diff conversion

2.0 brushed system converted to the VXL 3s system and motor bought from a traxxas supplier 36t on the motor, still the 70 t that came on the brushed system. everything grease with white grease. any thoughts on the top speed with this combo?
