Something funny that I saw on the drive home today. :)

Ha ha. Was driving home today and saw this:

    rear view

Front tires of the Explorer started to drag on the road ( ) so the guy got out to re-pump his hitch.

    Driving away.

Poor pick up could barely make it up hills. The Explorer was so heavy that the pickup's rear tires were so flat it was almost riding on rims. I thought it was funny that it had a light bar on it. Sorta makes it seem like he does this as a business.

look at the bed of the pickup! it is bending under the weight! O.O

I think it would work better if the SUV towed the pickup!

My dad would laugh at this guy, my dad has the 2 flatbeds that they pickup trucks, 18 wheeler for his that they haul their corvettes (mainly in) to alot of shows like bloomingtongold, and a chevy 3500 80's pickup with a bigblock that that hauls 3 car on a trailer. - anyone one of those that guy could really use.

Wow that is an epic fail at a tow truck! I think he bolted a engine hoist to his bed!

I don't know what's worse - The guy who thought his little Tonka Toy would make a good tow truck, or the owner of the Explorer who let him tow it away!

A long time ago when I lived in NV I saw a guy with a standard tow truck (for cars, pickups etc) towing a 3 axle peterbuilt down a back dirt road. His front tires on the tow truck kept bouncing completely up in the air. No idea how he planned to turn lol.

I think 02hawk is right. That looks like an engine hoist mounted to the bed! I cant beleive it even lifted the whole front end up on that explorer.

lol, why wouldnt this guy just tow it with tow chains?

I saw something like that, sorta. Me and a buddy were taking our break on the loading dock and saw a crane taking a giant air conditioning unit off the roof of another store to throw out and be replaced. Well, a scrapper was making his rounds in his junky pickup and talked them into setting it on the back of his truck so he could take it and tear it apart. They set this thing on there and I swear the front wheels were bouncing! The tires were almost flattened and rubbing the wheelwells in the rear! He drove off looking like the cat that ate the canary. We couldn't believe they would take the chance to load it on the thing! I guess they figured they would save a few bucks by not having to dispose of it. I mean it was taller than the cab by a lot and it was sticking out over both sides of the bed. Crazy, man. I wish we would've had a camera.

I look at this and see something completely different than you guys. I see a late 80 toyota still on the road and capable of towing (POORLY BUT...) while a late 90's early 2000 Ford has to be towed as usual...

Granted I'm a little bias toward toyota being a Tacoma owner and all

True, I see many off road rigs, mud boggers ect. be that era of Tacoma. I guess they were built pretty good (wait, I think I just complimented toyota )

Well my Daily driver is a 2000 Tacoma 4x4 with 196K on it and I have done NOTHING to it but regular maintenance... It still drives like a brand new truck. I can see another 100k to 200K out of it before I trade it in.. Couldn't say that about my old Ranger or Frontier.

The Frontier had 116K on it and was a rattle trap. It felt like it had a million miles on it when I traded it in on the Ranger.

I threw in the towel on the ranger somewhere around 60K. The moment that thing was out of the extended warranty it was gone. Easily the biggest pile of junk i've ever owned. Started having problems around 5K and never stopped.

Actually, the more I look at it, the bed extension isn't from any year S-Truck, that is the last foot off the back end of a late 80's FWD unibody Cadillac.....and I'll bet all but the left rear wheel is from that same Caddy

    No kidding!

If you look closely in the first pic, the right front is just far enough off the ground to see a bit of daylight under it I'm kinda surprised that the truck kept it's front tires on the ground at all Kinda have to wonder if he's been caught by the police doing this yet?

And while we're on the topic of overworked tow rigs..........................

Ford is an acronym (found on road dead)

Of course when you sell as many times more ford trucks than toyota over the last 3 decades... it makes sense.

The number one vehicle owned by millionares? F150

(I like dodge trucks TBH, have owned a half dozen Chrysler vehicles, 2 dodge vans and 2 dodge trucks, 2 Chrysler cars) Only reason I got rid of any of them was the upgrade bug. First dodge van had a half million miles on it (450 when I got it)

Driven a lot of ford trucks as a landscaper. (old harvesters too) All fords seems to have a problem with the Hplate making them undriveable IME..

While it is impressive to see a truck in that condition manage to do the impossible, it's still just a major hazard to all people on the road around him, not to mention pedestrians. I hope this guy gets a ticket in the future because this is just reckless endangerment of others or that he at least gets a proper tow truck.

I cringe whenever I see people doing stuff like this on the road and keep my distance from them at all costs.

I really hope the blazer picture is a joke, there is no way that setup will support the weight of that trailer for an extended period. not even with those ultra heavy duty chains and s hooks.
