    Now what is this?

I bought a used Stampede and it came with this interesting piece. What the heck is it for?

I got that too with a roller I bought, I think it's a battery hold down but the posts for it were ground on mine. So it came witha velcro strap instead

Its a battery/reciever hold down for the earlier non-waterproof models. Also it's not broken the space if there so it doesn't hit on the crystal if you even know what those are.

It does fit on the posts, but it's just awkward. It looks broken, but I'm pretty sure it's not.

It comes as part of this battery/receiver hold down kit "TRA3627X". That part is the receiver hold down from before the waterproof versions I believe.

Oh, cool. Actually not really. It's a pretty bad set-up.

yea...I knew it went on something like that. I actually give that part to my 2 year old son every time time we work on the truck. He loves to know that he is "helping" I had the same question as you when I picked up a new battery hold down kit awhile ago, so I had to look it up and see what the heck it was for too.

those were the days when receivers were bigger than esc's... most guys wire-tied the reciever down so it didn't pop out of place with every battery change.

On a couple older pedes I built recently I just used double sided tape to hold the RX on the front mount (like the one in your pic) They wont be coming off. The grey versions were stationary and were used with a battery hold down bar like the pedes still use today. The older black version WERE the battery hold down and every time you took it off, your RX came out too. Weird stuff. But they do work.

Yeah, that's the early battery hold down for the Stampede. Poor-design, because whenever it wasn't on, the receiver would just fall out of the chassis.
