    Unhappy

    hi guys,

i got my castle creations 4600kv motor last week and today i took my slash with the motor in it to the beach.

after 15 mins of running the temp was around 170 and i was planning to let it cool down but the motor suddenly stopped. it doesn't turns anymore then only very slowly and in wrong directions.

    im really worried

can you guys please help me or tell me to fix this?

    thanks in advance

    arjan rc

the motor turns strange it acts like it's full of sand but it seems there is no sand inside.
i'm going to clean the motor.

170 is pretty hot, but I dont think it is stator-meltingly hot.
I also dont know much about the castle motors, because they claim 180 is the point which you should stop.

I honestly don't know. Checl your motor wires, something could be shorting out. check the ESC side, the connectors, and the motor side.
I am lucky I don't have any money.

i checked everything. everything is right.
wires good connected, esc good connected, good battery, good caliberated, and so on.

but... i discovered something what made me a bit angry...

there were 2 dots of solder free in the motor, perhaps thats the reason that the motor suddenly stopped, and was getting very hot and wouldn't turn anymore. unbelievable, 2 dots of solder free in the motor, castle is a good company and then this stupid mistake. 100 bucks gone.

i'm going to mail them soon.

perhaps you guys can say a right word about this?

I doubt the solder was in there from the beginning like that. Chances are it got so hot that some of the solder melted.

that is not possible cause the highest temperature was 170.
and that does not harm the motor and will not melt the solder.

when i have a look at the solder drops, i see even parts of wire in it.
so i think that those are the ends of the wires which are connected to the motor and are cut during production proces.

Where did you measure the temperature? If you see 170 at the can, the temperature in the middle is much higher.

measured in the middle, gearing 23-86 but thats was only 5 min cause i stripped the gears.

castle says: warranty (1 year) only for esc.

Where did you see that warranty length information?? They offer 1 year on all their products....

I'm curious where you hear otherwise... I have been getting motors replaced due to snapped shafts, bad bearings, overheating etc... for years.. All of them carried 1 year warranty..

    thanks DrFizz2k1! i'll send them an e-mail.

oops... i didn't read the warranty info with much attention.

the driver's ed guide says: this warranty does not cover damages cause to your motor or controller from abuse.

excuse me! thanks for your attention!
