Neat video - but I've got news for Ken, a "Gymkhana" by definition is still a competition, a competitive event, and I didn't see or hear about anybody else running the track. Otherwise, it's just an exhibition.

That was a cool video! I wonder how many sets of tyres he destroyed doing that video? You can see on the ground where and how many times he's practised the lines on the tighter sections.

Trashed his rear wheels too! Awesome.

I'll have to watch it when I get home since we cannot view Youtube here at work. Is this the most recent Gymkhana at the France race track?

So I don't understand how a cool video of a 1:1 car doing things the RC rally cannot convinces you to drop an extra $30 on it. Not hating on anything just not following the logic

Where are you guy's coming up with a $30 difference?
The Rally is $299 at Tower with a $50 discount and the Ken Block is $319 with a $60 Discount
So $249 Rally and $259 KB Edition = $10 extra right?

Well first off exclude this tower hobbies discount in your calculations. If you're looking at what the actual price difference is it shouldn't be considered. So it's $20, seems worth it considering the liscensing involved and how pretty that body and wheel combo is. The part I don't get is if you're on the fence about buying the car why would a video of a 1:1 car doing things the RC is not capable of will convince you to buy it. And me saying it's not capable isn't a knock on the Rally, it would be impossible to make the RC do that stuff.

Your math is correct, though I'm thinking of the base prices before coupons. The Rally was $289 when it was first in stock but they upped the price $10. Now if I were to get the plain Rally, I would buy a part or two extra to get the $60 off; but the KB is just so cool looking that I'm saving my money for that.

Well, maybe someone who hasn't seen the Ken Block videos could become a KB fan after seeing his amazing videos, and then want to get the KB edition Rally.

Also, watching the KB videos can give people ideas for things to try to do with their RC cars. They may or may not be able to do these things, but they'll sure have fun trying.

Until Traxxas makes a technological breakthrough and figures out how to let us adjust brake bias on the Radio while the car is running 95% of the stunts performed in that video are unachievable. If you firgured out a way to put a mechanical front brake on that was on a switch you could hit while still giving the car throttle a lot more maneuvers would be possible. Traxxas should get to work on that!

You need a mechanical rear break, not a front break

I used a hydraulic E-break in my 1:1 Rally car, similar to the one in Ken's car

You can't get an all wheel drive car to spin the nose around cones like in that video with a rear brake only. What he has in that car is a brake system that allows him to adjust brake bias on the fly. Regardless, advanced drifting maneuvers are not possible without the ability to apply power and brake input at the same time. Would be cool if Traxxas could manage to engineer that.

    ImprezaWRC Castrol donuts

And Ken's gymkhana car has an adjustable center diff with more power going to the rear wheels

You can drift like that without a brake bias on a Rc car. Rc car drifting is different than 1:1. It's mostly the tire on a Rc that depends on how it's going to drift.
Simply the best. The beautiful Traxxas SRT and TCP

some of the WRC cars also disconnect the rear axle from the drivetrain so when they pull that big lever, it does 2 things: electronically disconnect the rear axle and apply brakes...

my only beef with block is that he is a GREAT stunt driver. if you look at his other gymkhana videos you'll see all of the tire marks made in his practices...

in the 2010 WRC season, i dont think he's ever finished in the top 10 or even finished. WRC doesnt allow "practice" runs...

I started watching the WRC on HD theater thinking I could see what Block was doing. Then I realized they never bother to mention him because he can't get himself past 15th lol
