the mmp is superior to the vxl3m

    lipos do make a difference

i run the stock shocks, they're not my first choice, but are good enough till i upgrade to gpm.... my truck is pretty built up, or about to be, once i get cracking on it

Yeah, stock shocks is not bad, i got confused because you got silver coil, i thought it may be other type of shocks.

well, 3s or less is the best and safest because 4s can fry esc easily
if you are starter, better with 2s, if you need more speed, just go to 3s
SPC, *****, *******, maxamps, boosts lipos are one of the best, but ***** and SPC is cheapest
if your motor or esc heats up very hot, switch to 23t speed pinon

It depends what kind of batt, how many mahs, how you drive, terrain,.... you can look for some 2s 2200mah (*******, venom, spc, *****, tenergy, maxamp) and look for the thunder ac6 cheap around $50 and very good charger.

Here's the Ultimate MERV list: RPM a-arms, GPM (or HR) Alloy knuckles, Aluminum Pivot Ball Caps, aluminum Hubs, Steel outer and center driveshafts, Center Diff, Aluminum Push Rods and Turnbuckles (those are my best upgrades yet, they act as bumpers/braces for the A-Arms= doesn't break as easy.) Bluebird 390 servo, Aluminum shocks (I reccomend the TRX ones, with blacks in the rear and tans in the front) Steel Hallow Balls, Rocker Bearings (TRA5114 you'll need 4 of those) Respone Pro 2.2s or Dirt Hawgs depeending on your style of driving, Aluminum heat sinks for the motor (but if you have the $$$ go to Castle Big Block, or Velineon Big block) Traxxas 2s or 3s LiPo, and a TQi with a Docking base if it doesn't have a TQi (If just TQi, get the base if you have Apple!) More about Big Block: You'll want the upgrades as listed above to make you MERV be able to handle the power. You will need: Tenblol Big Block mount, or Traxxas 550 Motor Plate, TRX 550 Motor Mount, and TRX 550 Gear cover (the gear cover will protect the gears better than just oopen gears.) To keep it waterproof, go VXL 3500 and VXL 3s, but if you want a 1/16 E-Revo Brushless Edition (literally) go Castle. The Mamba Max Pro with 5700 KV. And it'll be 6s capable with Castle.
And there he goes with the carbon...

Anybody got ideas on tires? I've been looking but can't decide, I've looked for badlands that fit, and found out that pro-line makes trenchers for the merv now... ideas and pics would be appreciated.

Talk about reviving a 1 year old thread... lol

I agree... anything Integy is rarely good, other than for shelf queen duty.

There are a few pictures of 1/16th Trenchers on Pro-lines site and I believe in the photo gallery.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.

Almost a 5 year old post! I just got this car and Im excited to drive it. I picked up the series connectors and the traxxas 2s lipos and proline road rage tires on titus beadlocks. I need to get me some trenchers too. Traxxas Rc cars are the best! Wish I had enough money for a 1/10 E-Revo tho. Lol I even thought about Revo 3.3 but the MERV is gonna be sweeeeett. Thanks Traxxas for fun and making me feel like a kid again.

Don't use the series connector with lipos. The series connector is ONLY for use with nimh. 4s in series is too much for the stock electronics. Only use paralell connectors with lipo, no matter if it's 2 or 3 cell.

Also, ditch the beadlocks, they are too heavy and can cause overheating and will put extra stress on your driveline (diffs)....

Enjoy the truck, they are awesome!

    -Lipos in pair "parallel"
    -Sway bars for handling

Shim diff's , seal diff's (stock o-rings are sure not enough, they just leak and empty the oil)

-Boil chassis in hot water for 10 minutes and A-arms to. No need for RPM stuff!

And more stuff but that is essential to keep runing break free! Lol

What does bouiling the psrts do? Is this like stress relieving on steel?
