    Hey everybody,

How much money do you think that all these upgrades cost? Because that looks really nice but I want to price it out. I'm not looking into the motor+ESC as much, just the aluminum and stuff like that. I want to keep my MERV waterproof for a little longer before I upgrade the motor+ESC.

    Thanks!!

...and good job on the site, Evgen!!

    already over $600

add to this new servos, bunch of $40+ lipos, shock/diff oils, few sets of HR hardened steel pinion and spur gears, few more sets of wheels... and plus shipping costs for all that stuff (i'm not from U.S. )
and i'm still sure i've missed something

plus mamba max pro with a pair of tekin motors and it's easily steps over $1000!

holy moly, you think i'm gone too far???

and i'm still want to get some stuff like aluminum wing and sway bar

Wow thanks for giving all the parts and their websites, Evgen. That really helps.

And I didn't mean the motor+ESC, just the other stuff.

No, you haven't gone too far. Lots of people put $1000+ into their R/Cs!!

just analyzing this list, taking the parts that are just for show out and you come out to around $350.00 for all the "bullet proofing" items that are or would be useful upgrades. This doesn't include the motor or esc. Add $195 for a MMP/CC combo and that puts you around $550 + the cost of the truck, and you are at: $832.00 and some change.

This isn't to criticize his truck at all, its very nice....just an informative post for people only looking for the necessary upgrades. =p

    it depends....

    the reason is this:

really depends on what you are trying to achieve.... it will not be the strongest, most bulletproof merv out there, if you decide to make anything possible be aluminum......

are you going for durability? speed? shelf/show queens?

i set mine up to bash, the only aluminum parts on it, are the gpm knuckles, and dp front and rear braces...... i do have quite a bit of aftermarket stuff done to mine though.... and all of of it has helped with durability

I don't want to know how much I've spent! After I broke my second chassis in a week, I decided to bite the bullet and buy aluminum bulkheads. Best upgrade besisdes RPM arms that I've done. I beat on mine pritty hard tho, and I like to take care of it at the same time, nothing can be broke on it for more than a day. Lol. But I've even made some of my own braces to keep it strong. The aluminum wing is a must have! Just don't expect the side pieces to stay on long.
If it is unbreakable, I'll break it.

    i want aluminum bulkheads too

by the way, having too much metal "inside" the truck is not that bad.
aluminum gearbox is a very good heatsink for the motor for example.

and it's not really good idea to have it where you get the most of the hits - wingmounts, bodymounts (alu bodyposts is fine ), a-arms, skid plates etc.
that's why i still have lots of stock and rpm plastic parts

I have the aluminum bulkheads on both the front and rear of my Merv. I dont have much runtime on them yet.

As far as cost............I just dropped 300$ last night on my Merv. I am well over 1200$. But it is a hobby, and we all spend for our hobby that we enjoy.

Gawd I wish I could afford to put that much into my MERV let alone buy a 1/10 or bigger scale truck to race.

cheaper to buy a used e-revo with hop-ups. I got mine for about a $200.00 value, it had rpm arms all around, titus beadlocks with pro-line dirt hawgs already on it and 2x2s batteries, gh aluminum knuckles. I spent $195.00 on the motor/esc, new rockers, etc. so that brings it to $445, then I'm selling the stock motor/esc and other parts to get about $200 more in upgrades. alum bulkheads f/r, and tranny with hardened gears, with tie/push rod kit.

so I'll have a almost completely overhauled merv for $500ish. when if I bought everything new I'd be over 1k already. :P

    saving $500-800 ftw.

Anyone know how good the Integy Titanium turnbuckle/push rods are? It looks like the the ends are titanium and not plastic, like the Gpm or the traxxas ones.
