Has anyone run 3S lipo with the LRP yet?

Ya what gearing, this is interesting to find out. And what size wheels? This would surely be a con for the LRP over the SV2...
On a side note, i'll be bashing again today at this parc in the west suburbs of Montreal... I think I saw mini hills and valleys of grass so it would be perfect for bashing and mini jumps! Wll try and post video!

Hi
I recently bought a brushed MERV which I also bought brushless parts for. Sidewinder sv2, velineon 380, spektrum sr300 and already had lsr-3000 tx, 23t pinion, rpm nylon arms and axle carriers venom 2s 2000mah lipo. all other parts are stock.
My new sv2 had a fried BEC so sent it back to castle for replacement. Did I just have bad luck with esc, or are some of my parts incompatible? All the parts work fine together using stock brushed esc and motor.

How do you know it had a fried bec ?

Whenever I turned the steering the motor would cut out completly, no steering input at all and the motor would fluxuate between throttle and nuetral no matter how much throttle I gave it, indicated by led lights on esc. I was on the phone with castle tech support, fiddled with stuff and we both concluded the bec was fried so they're sending me a new one.
Castle ESC's have a notoriously weak internal bec
You can run an external and you wont have such issues

hmm so I've heard. It's a 1/10 scale esc in a 1/16 scale car, I figured I'd be good for power distribution. So if I get this replacement and have the same problem, should I buy an external BEC? what bec would you recomend? I know castle makes 2 types that I can program with the catle link I already own.
Also spektrum makes an Rx capacitor, would that help me?
I'm a a bit new to the expensive rc hobby, forgive my ignorance.
I run an external bec on all of my ESC's
The Castle ccbec ($25) works well and its output voltage is adjustable via the Castlelink software
Cap is a slightly cheaper fix that helps with glitching but does not provide the same benefits as the external bec

Thank you for your help, very much appreciated.
I need to ask you or anyone else one more question though.
when I wired the velineon 380 to the sv2, I used a set of 4mm bullet connectors that I bought from the local hobby shop. I soldered them to both sv2 and velineon 380(male and female 3 pack).
Could I have fried the motor from overheating the wires? I used a butane cigarette torch lighter because my solder iron is only 30w. When I unplugged the servo, (tried 2 different traxxas 2080 servos) the throttle cut out issue didn't happen but the motor was very slow, equivalent to the stock titan 380 maybe a little faster. esc issue or velineon 380 issue? I opened and took apart the velineon and didn't see any noticable damage.
My bro has a stock vxl MERV so I've been able to swap parts for testing at least.
Doubt you would have damaged the motor because of heat in the wires but anything is possible
Get the bullets checked out before you connect it up next time
Cheers

Still using the SV2...

I just created a account to say this.
I've had the sv2 for about 6months in my raptor and today i ran it in the rain. I drove it into a deep puddle (above center of motor) stopped pulled full throttle and flew out no problem I took the body off and the esc was drowned in water. It drove just fine until it just started to bog down. I thought it was fried but I let it drain and it didn't want to go. O then checked the gears and it was full of muddy water I then took the cover off and cleaned it out and it works perfect 90% water proof the last 10% is the battery connector.
Good to know! I know I wouldn't want to test it!
Ya good to know but I personally wouldn't test it either lol!
