    uh oh, something broke...

So I've only had my merv for a little over a month. I was driving it today with two nimh packs in parallel with 23/50 gearing. About five minutes into the run it seemed to glitch and stopped responding. When I removed the body the esc was off. Nothing was hot, the motor was barely warm and the esc and batteries were both cool to the touch (it was about 40F outside). I tried turning everything off and reconnecting the batteries, the esc and receiver light came on but as soon as I gave the car throttle they both shut off. I tried connecting the batteries individually without the parallel adapter but that didn't work either.

After I got home I tried it again just in case I was receiving interference or something but didn't have any better luck. The esc and receiver turn on but the lights flicker almost like the connector has gone bad and the car won't respond at all now.

Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Has my esc gone bad?

    Thanks for the advice.

It turns out it was the steering servo. I unplugged it and was able to turn the car on and go forward and reverse. I'm not sure how I would have broken that.

You probably didn't do anything specifically to break it, seems that's a fairly common problem.

the 2080 servo dying like that is very common

    get a ******* 390 or a hitec 85 (or 5085) with a losi crawler aluminum servo arm

i have both setups and they work great

After looking around a bit on the forums it does seem that is a common issue.

I'll check out those replacement servos, thanks.

Hey Werner700, I see your from Lancaster. I'm from right outside of Harrisburg. Glad to see that Central PA is gaining some more fellow MERV's

I ended up with the HS-85mg. I'm checking the hobby store tomorrow to look for that losi crawler servo arm. It doesn't look like it will be able to turn all the way with the skid guard on though.

@lakeober: There are quite a few people with Merv's down this way. I've seen some racing at the local track.

the servo arm doesnt need to be at 90 degrees to make it turn fully.... just needs full extension

the losi arm installs without modifications and has full travel
