finally finished my big block maxx

so after having a 2.5 a 3.3 and a dynamite .19t i finally stepped up to a big block i went with the dynamite . 28 "big red". i chose this motor because of price power and rpm. i didnt want to have to change gearing like you usually have to when you go with a big block, the big red spins to 34,000 rpm just 1000 less than the .19t.

the truck was a 4910 that has been upgraded to 3.3 specs with modified front driveshafts to work with the 4910 steering knuckles. rear of the truck also is a rpm trutrack setup

    here are the mods

servos: hitec 645mg (throttle) hitec 7955(steering)
    chassis: ebay "mega" bb chassis
steel front and rear ceter driveshafts
    ofna header
    aluminum threaded shocks
hump pack mounted to front shock tower
    battery box deleted
power switch moved to reciever box
specktrum radio system. i think thats it

it wont let me post pictures yet :/

Nice build. Use something like photobucket.com to upload pictures, then you can copy the links onto your forum posts.

some other things ive done to the truck
machined the metal brake rotor from the 3.3 trucks down to work with the black transmission and used snooks idea of brake pads ( old fiber disc cut and glued to stock metal pads)

And get you an Ofna #40109 tank and some 40mm long mount posts for it.
Beats the stock tank hands down.

    Axial #axa1425 40mm long

Traxxas #4944 steering posts also work as well if you have them laying around.
    Look out for the tree/crunch!

Looks like you have more then enough room for next to the trany on that chassis.
In the link below are picks of how to mount the tank.

    here is some pics,

personally not only did it make my truck run better, who knows my stock tank might have needed resealed, but its alot easier to tune, doesnt lean out till im really low on fuel...

So I should be able to mount that farther back on my truck if I want there are some unused holes in the chassis so I might not have to make new holes

Ultimately, you best bet is to upgrade to some Traxxas Big bores w/ dual rate springs.

I had the MSR5's on my truck, with the 35wt oil that Integy recommended.
It was extremely ineffective. Absolute mush.. If you choose to use these shocks,
my suggestion is go thick and heavy. Thick springs and heavy oil.

Try a 50wt to start with, work up from there, and some dual rate springs.

So I went and bought some springs at the hobby shop the the inside diameter was too big and just slid over the perch... A trip to the hardwear shop later I found some rubber grommets that I cut in half and they fit perfect around the perches so I can use the new springs .. Stiffness is where I want it but rebound is too fast would that be thicker or thinner oil ?

I already bought aluminum threaded shocks the springs were way to soft

Got the first few break in tanks done today ... All I can say is wow it will lift the tires at 1/4 throttle. Have to adjust the 2 speed and change springs again.. Way too stiff bounces everywhere .. Gonna swap those and try to finish breaking it in tomorrow

Thicker oil will slow the rebound rate with the stiffer springs.

Probably not gonna run it anymore until spring weather is changing too much here and don't wanna keep completely changing the tune everyday . For instance Thursday it was 55 Friday it was 50 Saturday it snowed and was in the 30s and today was in the
    Low 40s ... Darn ohio

I know a few people have done it on here. I am also considering it. If you search it, you should find a post or 2 with pics of it done.

Nice chassis kit. Love them, they are pretty much a copy of the ACNCM BB chassis kit. Tons of room for reconfiguring the tank and servos. Looks good

well got the direct pull set up and working properly. the hitec servo i am using was a little powerful so i had to limit its end points, not a big deal. also the stock linkage that connects the brake post to the linkage to the servo wasnt long enough and wasnt moving, it was just pulling back instead of turning. so i took a wire coathanger , cut it and bent it , also i flattened the end of it so it would stay upright instead of wanting to spin . over all i am happy with it. just have to rout the fuel lines a little different as well as the servo wires. here are the pics
