Well my trip to the park with my MERV ended in another random breakage. Not really a breakage, but the pin that holds the steel cvd to the axel somehow disappeared. The rubber pin retainer ring was still in place, so the pin must have somehow snuck past the retainer. At any rate here are a few comparison pictures...don't pay any attention to the rear of my truck lol:

Thanks Swampy.. I still can't decide. Lol dang it

But I finally got to drive mine. Bone stock on provided NIMH 1200.. it was a Blast.. probably my most favorite rc to date. It preformed a lot better than I thought. The stock tires are so so. No real hook up on pavement and mediocre at best in grass..

I have ordered the led light kit because we'll dang it i think it'll be cool lol..

    Still deciding on tires..

Tonight I ran mostly blacktop parking lot with the occasional grass.

Usually I hit blacktop, gravel roads, skate park with that slick concrete and general grass/woods dirt clay bashing.. lol.. I know I probably need both sets of tires lol I don't think there is a one does all is there???

Honestly I think I prefer the Trenchers. Did some high speed runs on loose dirt today with the Hawgs and the back kept washing out and just spinning the truck around. I bought the Hawgs to mostly use on pavement to preserve the blocker tread of the Trenchers. But if I were to only have one set of go Trenchers.

I agree the MERV VXL is a lot of fun. I tend to enjoy it even more than my big E Revo and my Mamba Monster Slash 4x4. I love the 1/16 size and always enjoy running it in and around playgrounds while my 3 year old plays. The MERV fits down a slide nicely lol!

What did you do to your Merv today?

I got some proline 2.2 sand paws for a bashing spot (it's pure sand) and mounted them on rpm revolver front wheels so they don't rub the body. I will have to mill the inside where you mount the hex as it is too thick for the nut to attach.

I know it looks awkward with the front 2 tires being stock but I plan to run this in 2wd. (Front center shaft removed)

Fair enough, I have them on mine rear only and they work great for what it's worth.

I think it came out pretty well. I'll get some more pictures outside when I run it.

Reflecting on this build is what I did to my merv today.

It's sitting on my workbench looking like crap. The paint I used was a water based (which I never used before) and about 90% chipped off.
I took the merv to a very large 1/10th SCT and Buggy course and ran it a few months back. It handled pretty well, but we got quite dirty and took quite a beating.

    As it stands today:
    - Body off and prepped for repaint with the right paint! Color looks about a close match and will serve its purpose. The body is not in bad shape, just a ton of paint loss.
    - dirty as crap. It needs a tear down and cleaning after the track day. Shocks seem to have leaked out oil as the compression and rebound has become springy.
    - half the lights don't work because of bent wires; I think I can fix this with epoxy.
    - I'd love to outfit with a set of trenchers after the clean up.

This project is in line behind:
    1) Fresh build from kit X-Ray NT1
    2) OFNA Hyper 10tt rebuild and restore
    3) OFNA Hyper 10tt conversion to SC/Street Speed Demon
    4) MERV
