First off, I have installed and tested this set in my Boss... er, the wife's Boss first.
Here is the thread on that: LINK
There are more pictures of fitment and details there.
This is how it came:
Since I always run in parallel, I decided to eliminate a connector set:
I also shortened the harness so that the wires tuck under the body nicely.
In order to program the ESC with the card, you have to unhook it from the Rx. I do not want to have to pop open the Rx box every time I want to tweak the ESC... so I eventually came to this as a solution:
I tried soldering a servo wire in parallel, but it actually must be unplugged to be programmed.
This also makes the ESC easy to remove for water clean-up, as it is not waterproof.
(Once my JST connectors come in to unhook the on/off switch)
Here is how I have mounted the on/off switch:
Notice the angle on the cuts in the top picture.
To be continued...
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
This is how I mounted the ESC:
I sanded the plexi and the ESC, then I swabbed them with alcohol; all before I shoe goo'd them together.
Here is how it looks all buttoned up:
I did not get a full run on it yet... but I hope to this coming weekend.
I did get a chance to step outside for a few minutes with two 2S LiPo's at storage voltage.
I can really tell that the stock ESC has weak brakes now!! I will have to re-learn how to drive this thing all over again. lol It will flip on its lid without warning if you punch the brakes... I did not do any adjusting in the Tx. That will be the first step.
It is definitely more punchy... it will pop a wheelie instantly from a stand still. It immediately hops onto the wing... and this is with a 50k center differential.
As of right now, I am extremely satisfied with this "hop up"!
Edit:
23/50 gearing
30/50/30 oils

Nice work, let us know how it does after you play with your Boss' Boss!!
You got that right! lol
How else do you get your significant other into the hobby??
I am hoping to finish the Boss install tonight.
(********* ESC and stock V380 motor)

That is a clean install! The sv2 is larger than the stock esc. I wish i could mount it like you did! I might have to just put a tab on one side since i already cut the rear part off lol.
im really considering this i have it in my cart lol
have you ran it in either of ur cars if so does it get hot using lipos with 2s or 3s
Your ABC reads CBA! Hahah
Those shocks... purdy
Is the power switch glued in place?
They wire everything backwards over there... lol
Even servos.
I have done minor 2S runs.. but it is cold out, so I cannot get truthful heat readings yet.
HOWEVER... this ESC is known to stand up to 2WD 1/10 RC's without a problem.
I plan on running it hard this weekend. I will be taking temp readings then.
2S only... as that is all I have for now.
Thanks for the compliment on the shocks, Krall... they are my big bores.
Love 'em!
The switch is glued into place... super glued.

i will follow this topic from now!!!!
go go Jimmie or Shimmie![]()
Xtreme has no limiits
Hahahhahaah!!! Shimmie Neutron!
all the way !!!! LOL
Xtreme has no limiits
I was able to run it today!!
I ran it hard for 20 minutes...
Full throttle for 30', slam on the brakes, turn, repeat.
I did dial the brakes back about 40%... 100% will just flip it over.
60% braking power is about perfect... it rear end lifts if punched and held, but it does not flip.
ESC: 125-130°
No fan, body ventilated.
Motor: 130-135°
Cheap-o heat sink, body ventilated.
Here are pictures of the vents:

Shimmie,
How is this working out for you?? Any chance to run it again? Would you buy this setup if you had to do it again?
dm
what motor is that?
how thick is your esc plate?
nice topic : and one i am goning to follow
go shimmie go !!!!
ACE STUFF IS SHOWING HERE
Xtreme has no limiits
Can this esc run a bigger motor?
Is that a 540 motor?
I have been busy running my new Summit... have not had much time with the MERV lately.
I would definitely buy this set up again... not a single complaint thus far.
I hope to run to at least LVC tomorrow... we will see what the day holds!
The motor is right in the title... S2848 4370Kv Motor.
I would say the brand but then I might get in trouble.
The plate is 1/8ish lexan... I had to thin up the edges a bit to get it to slide into the stock ESC slots.
Yes... it is a 1/10th ESC rated for 60 amps continuous and 250 amps burst... as long as your motor will not demand more than that, you will be good to go. I have read reports of this ESC in 2WD 10th scale RC's with a V3500 and it ran great.
It is the stock size... 380
It just has a little more Kv.

Not directly related to post, but what shocks are those?

I understand this is on 2s. Have you tested it on 3s maybe ? Is the performance better then stock motor ?
I`m asking this because I`m planning to replace ESC with EZrun60 and need to find a cooler motor, stock one overheat in about 10 minutes on 3S (23/50 gearing)
Tested on 3S... it can only handle a few speed runs before getting over temp.
If you want a cool running motor even with heavy gearing, get a Neu.
50togo has one, which one is written in his signature.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
that's would be one example where you get what you pay for!
I would say the 4370 performs almost exactly like stock... close enough I really cannot tell a difference.
If you want all out speed AND for it to run cool... that takes green; and I feel Neu is the way to go.
Neu 1110 1/y
Just in case 50 ever changes his signature.
lol

Hey i got the same setup ordered as you but i forgot to order a programing card for the esc, went back to order one but they are all in backoreder, can i use this esc without the programing card on 3s. i use to have a hobbywing 60amp esc but i still have the programing card. it has the same plug in and everything, can i use that program card. i would send a link of it but i get in trouble. if u got to nitro....com and go to the 60amp hobbywing ezrun brushless esc you will see it, PLEASE HELP
Traxxas ruslter, 1/16 modded grave digger,
Nitro what .com??
No need to try to censor the address... there is only one site banned and that isn't it.
Also, censoring your post like that if it was a banned site will get you in trouble just the same.
I cannot suggest running the ESC without a programming card. Also, I do not know of your current card will work or not.
The LVC setting may not be set for 3S... or even on. Other control settings may need to be adjusted as well, but the LVC is the most important.

oh okay its http://www.nitrorcx.com/led-program-...hless-esc.html if i cant use this what could i possibly do
thanks
Traxxas ruslter, 1/16 modded grave digger,
Order the proper card.

Hey Jimmie, did you ever get to waterproofing the esc? Just wondering..
Nope... I don't run it much anymore since I got my Summit. Just a speed run and a pair of 2S LiPo's here and there.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
What is "this"?
The reason I am confused is when you state "stock setup" and "stock motor" I think 100% stock RC.
In any case, an addition of a difference ESC should not make any difference in speed. The ESC feeds the power plant, if the power plant is unchanged, so is the speed.

Okay, so this will work with a stock motor?
Yes, the ESC will work with a stock motor... no soldering required to hook the motor up, it plugs right in.
But, the battery side is an XT60, which could be different from the batteries you currently have.

Mine has deans, In which I need a servo for, but this is for my buddy who is running traxxas connectors
Soldering on a TRX would solve that issue.
