New Mickey Thompson Baja Claw 3.8

I got a set of Mickey Thompson Baja Claws through RC4WD this week. I mounted them up on black chrome Axial oversize 8 spoke wheels. In my opinion, they are just what the Dr. ordered.

The tires are huge and rigid, exactly what I was looking for. They balloon only slightly at near top speed running 6s, unlike the trencher x's I bought which turn into instant pizza cutters on hard acceleration.

I know these tires might not be for everybody, but my plan for this E-revo build was to make a tough basher with long travel, big tires and gobs of power, this thing is a beast and these Baja Claws are as close to perfect as I think I will find.

    Just my two cents.

sorry for the terrible pic, but I thought it might be at least an idea of scale.

Funny you mentioned 1/5 scale trenchers, a guy at a LHS recommended I get those for this truck, but I just didn't think it would look right.

The regular Trencher 3.8 would probably work much better than the trencher x's but they are too short for what I wanted.

I do hope they work out for ya, if you are running 4s you will most likey have no problems. Running 6s with a good shot of throttle they instantly grow to about 10" diameter and get really skinny. The tread is great for traction, but the compound is soft and the lack of tread bars running full width of the tires seems to make the carcass weak.

Anyway I didn't intend to dis the trencher x tires, they are great for certain purposes, just not mine. On my sons V-twin Emaxx running 6s they seem just fine.

Took E-revo out for a blast last night again and yes I do believe these are the prefect tires(for me.)

There is not a good way of taping the 1/5 Trenchers. There is a reinforcement ridge on the inside of the tire, only on one sidewall... no way to keep the tape flat..

    edit
I am going to try the O'ring in the tread.
This is why I bought thee 5ive....OOOooyea...

Saw these after I ordered my Trencher Xs. Figures. RC4WD also has a Mickey Thompson IPhone 4/4s case that is designed to look like the Baja Claw.
