    big motor

    Hey guy!
    So I was thinking about changing the motor of my pede 4x4 vxl. Why you ask?
    I'm tired of overheat issue with 3s lipo. So I want a bigger motor. (It will reduce the heat, right?)
    I would like to have a lower kv motor, so I can increase the speed range:
    -9t pinion, low speed for off-road, bashing, wheelie, grass, mud, etc.
    -22t pinion, for high speed run. 60-65 mph is perfect for me.

    I calculated with this that I need a 2800kv motor to reach 60 mph with a 22t pinion. What do you think about this?

    i would recomend a 2400 castle and up the voltage and then you could really change the gearing option to suit what you want to do

    I would choose the 2650 instead of the 2400 or better yet the larger 2200...

    Castle is not the only motor you should be looking at. The "4065" number is the length/diameter of the can. I can only speak for the leopard which I run 15/52 on 3S with a MMP and motor stays around 120 no matter how hard I run it.

    Leopard 4065 2700kv - $80
    ********* 4168 2650kv - $52
    ********* 4268 2350kv sensored - $60
    Tacon 4071 2650kv sensored? - $72
    Castle 3670 2400kv - $115

    I made my choice, I might go with a Castle 1415 2400kv and a mamba max pro with a 4s lipo. What do u think, guys?
    Is there anybody with this setup that can give me some advice? Any trouble fitting the 3670?

    Sure I will update. From pictures of others it looks like I will have to mount the mmp where the reciever goes.

    looks like you made a good choice with the 2400kv and with 3s it will run cool and be fast and if you want mental you can try 4s...peace

    If you can find one, a castle 1512 1800 is a good option for 3-4s option:

    The chassis needs a little rotary tool work to fit:



    This motor is the same dimensions as the castle 2650kv.

    Can I run a Leopard motor with my stock ESC, or should I order their combo to try it? If I put that in, does the programming still work on the stock transmitter?

    If you want to run 1/8 motor you need something more powerful than the stock Esc, at least Mmp, if not you will burn it.

    OK I got it mounted and am happy with everything's location. I dremeled half of the reciever box so I could mount the esc there. To me it looks good.

    Nice job on the ESC mount. Should get good airflow and stay a little cooler than down in the chassis. I might have to steal this idea

    I received my MMP with 2400kv. Installation was easier than I thougt!!!!
