About 20mph in high gear, not a fast truck but pretty quick considering the size and weight and will go anywhere you or it wants to.

Speed is a crazy thing, once you get over 50 mph you need alot of room to run that fast. I am lucky I have that room. Then you have to control it, & much over 50 mph gets real hard to control. But it is fun to try.
Would you go flip my truck back over??

Am I the only one who thinks the Summit is really, really fast and when it zooms by at top speed it's almost hard to control unless you have TONS of room? Maybe I'm just old...
Bash OR crawl? No, the Summit does it all!

I thought that too until i went brushless and now it is pretty fast but crawls perfect liquid taped the 65 dollar esc and it's splashproof for the rain and If we get any.....snow If it goes up in smoke...well $65 vs $300 for a tekin.I can live with that

Here is a link to some testing I did over two years ago. Keep in mind the Nimh packs used were top-of-the-line, hand picked, matched EnerG4600's. If packs like these are even available today they would be every difficult to find and expensive. But regardless, my testing does list top speeds as you requested.

You can get a summit beyond 30mph with a Dewalt motor 24/68 gearing and 5s lipo. This burned up my 12v dewalt (24/68) but a 14v may handle it better with slightly lower gearing.

5S exceeds the specs of the EVX-2. Don't complain to the boys at Traxxas if it fries.

^^^ Thank you - great point. That's enough reason for me to not do it - can't tell you how many times I've almost connected my non-BEC LiPo to my LVA. The wires are too easy to connect wrong, in this case with potentially disastrous results. Then again, sometimes red->red and black->black mean little to me as well.

Someone suggested tape on the bec wires,a good idea, i have done that myself(wrong side and killed a cheap lipo)but 3s to the rx is going to make bad stuff happen.Mine had the tag on those wires at one point, those are not as water resistant washed it right off...LOL

Someone has not read the Summit FAQ. Connections instructions are in the FAQ. But best to us a lipo alarm or cut-off switch along with the lipos. The EVX can handle 5s without problems, just be careful with your gearing and have a strong motor.

I only used to run nitro trucks so when I bought my summit it seemed painfully slow. Now I'm used to its capabilities and it seems fine for light bashing. 20 and below is a good speed area to not be spreading broken parts all over the country side..

People don't buy Humvees to race with Ferraris.

    promatchracing's 4600 7 cell matched assembled 2 pack set

I've owned a few of those packs and they are amazing. Much more consistent performance and night and day difference from the generic 5000 packs from my LHS.
