Well I bit the bullet and bought another new rx since I had poor range with my new tqi kit
I tested my old tq tx and new tqi rx and had good range again
Then I linked the new tqi tx (which I bought on eBay in new box with tx and rx)
To the new rx which I just bought separately and it worked good
Tank god for that
Then I did might have done something silly
I plugged the iPhone in and upgraded firmware
I saw that most of the firmware upgrade was at the reciever
As I was watching the iPhone during upgrade
The traxxas app had been upgraded since I upgraded the firmware
In the tqi kit I bought of eBay that didn't work properly
So with new upgraded app on iPhone and now upgraded firmware on new rx I bought separately the other
Day to see if it was rx
And to my surprise it still all worked
I also compared the antenna lengths between the old tq rx and tqi rx from kit
And new tqi rx I just bought last week
And the new rx I got the other day has a longer soft wire bit after the stiff metal part that goes
In blue tube
So not sure why I originally had issues
Was it bad traxxas app which broke the rx when I tried to upgrade firmware
Or was it just bad rx
Or was it bad antenna
Anyway I have new rx with new app and latest firmware and it all works
And it wasn't the tqi tx
You can turn the non-working one in and get a new one direct from Traxxas for a small fee.
The "soft wire" leading up to the hard part has no effect on range... the only actual antenna is after the hard part; the rest is just an extension for routing.
Whatever it is I just typed... could be wrong.
Yes the section I'm taking about is the soft section after the hard bit
Al three rx have different lengths soft bit
And the new rx has a pretty long soft section
Maybe that was problem
Or do they cut it to a certain length for tuning
I am not sure length is that specific on that...
Maybe someone else can chime in that has more knowledge??
